So far, so good 😊

I’ve tried so many different weather apps over the years, but am finding this one to be the most reliable so far.

When I was living in Australia, the BOM app was by far the most accurate, but living in rural Cambodia now, nothing else comes remotely close to the actual weather conditions experienced on the ground.

The live satellite feed was accurate to within a few minutes before it rained, and the wind direction, ambient temperature and hourly forecast updates more reliable than any of the other apps I have used.

Having been a surfer and photographer for most of my life I am fascinated with the weather and have a pretty good knowledge of how it all works, so it’s nice to find an accurate weather app that’s reliable in real time, giving you confidence in its future modeling so I can plan activities based around those forecasts.

I’ve uninstalled all the other apps and running solo with this one for now, and am very happy with it so far. 😎.

IBM?? No weather forecasts in app: just fluff videos and weird empty policy statements.

For an IBM business the Weather Channel app for Apple TV has surprisingly dropped the ball. The app download page says that “The only thing more powerful than the weather is your ability to forecast it. This free Apple TV app keeps you informed every step of the way”. As if that wasn’t already sufficiently misleading and incorrect, it provides no weather forecasting at all. Just an occasional videos on generic topics such as filling bathtubs and hurricanes. The settings pages helpfully provide URLs to IBM’s policy statements on the web. But unfortunately to read them you have to type these into your own browser on another platform because IBM it seems hasn’t figured out how hyperlinks work yet.
Presumably someone got paid for delivering an app and no exec at the firm actually quality checked it.

I’ve cancelled my subscription after many happy years use

I used to love this IBM app, but recently the interface on the iPad was rewritten to look ‘more pretty’. With this change you have to change the iPad from regular portrait mode to landscape mode. I don’t see any need to have to be inconvenience with this change.

However I continued to use the app on my iPhone as this was not changed. Ah ha - but now it has been changed to ‘look prettier’. Although it still works in portrait mode, the ‘prettier’ mode has useless/pointless moving graphics in the background. However it now takes forever to load and one has to scroll, scroll and scroll to find what you want, whereas the data used to be easily accessible, mostly on the initial screen.

In your quest to be prettier rather than useful, you have lost a previously happy customer
