Visualize the swing from six different angles (yes, from just ONE video)

Playback in slow motion and frame-by-frame

Compare two swings in 3D animations and detail

Compare 2D video with 3D animation and motion data

LIVE AND REMOTE LESSON TOOLS TO ENGAGE STUDENTS

Save, favorite, and mark any swing as a reference model

Create and share 3D analysis using any slow motion, face-on videos — taken on the app or sent by the student

The best golf teacher, right in my pocket!

I’m a very visual learner. I’ve spent thousands of dollars with different instructors thinking I’ll eventually find “the one” whose teaching style resonates with how I learn. When I met my current instructor who uses Sportsbox with her students, I realized it’s not just about the instructor, but their tools. The app was a game changer for me and my handicap. IMO, teaching students by asking them to “feel” this and “imagine” that is outdated and NOT. HELPFUL. AT. ALL. It’s like a grandma saying “just use however much salt feels right” - a recipe for disaster. I’m not a pro who’s super in tune with every little muscle and movement, and I can’t change what I’m doing if I don’t know what I look like. Sportsbox shows me exactly what I look like from all the different angles AND quantifies adjustments so I can correlate the changes I’m making in my swing with the changes in ball flight. Best part is I can refer back to recordings to track progress over time. Every modern instructor should incorporate Sportsbox into their teaching, and every golfer who’s serious about *actually* improving should find an instructor who’s trained on the app. You’ll get SO much more out of your lessons and practice sessions in between.

Disrupting Instruction

Sportsbox has come along way since beta, and their app is really helpful during lessons. Measuring body data really highlights and emphasizes students’ areas of improvements. As a coach, the app has helped me:

- Validate my thesis on the students “why” (I.e why are they slicing, hooking, extending, etc.)
- Identify specific areas of opportunity
- Develop a path for improvement in step-by-step fashion vs. trying to solve the entire swing

They’re also creating a more social feel to the app which helps develop rapport with your students to do constant check-ins, measure and analyze swings on the fly, which helps create efficiency for both student and teacher.

For students/consumers, it’s really cool to see the different views/angles of your swing, such as above view (to measure turn numbers like opening pelvis and chest).

App development is hard, so releasing new features takes time and research. The app can be buggy and crash, but they are building really cool features on their roadmap such as their DTL view (measuring thrust e.g. early extension and hand depth). They have all the knowledgeable people on the team to execute but it takes time.

This does not replace Trackman, Foresight, etc. but body measurement and Sportsbox is supplemental to building a long lasting swing. Highly recommend!

To good to be true

As a mini tour player I’ve used some of the top 3d swing technology with coaches, where you have to wear full suits that track and analyze every part of your swing or systems that use cameras 360 degrees all around you to capture all aspects of your swing. To think a single front facing camera can get you that kind of data or close to it seemed impossible but amazing and groundbreaking if could actually do that. So after a month of testing it out I can say unfortunately it is too good to be true. Now this other equipment cost upwards of $10,000 so to think a simple app could do the same for $15 or $20 a month is pure fantasy. It’s cool that’s for sure being able to look at your swing from every angle but the big problem is the data just isn’t accurate. I tested different hip tilt angles and being extremely open or closed at impact and would regularly get conflicting data compared to high end tech. The problem with that is it can potentially do more harm then good when it’s telling you your hips need to be more open or closed at impact when you don’t need to be. The app is definitely cool and I’m sure someday we will have the technology to make that $10,000 technology accessible to everyone on their phone with a simple app but as of right now that just doesn’t exist
