WSOP Poker: Texas Holdem Game 17+

Well it’s poker for fun so in many ways better than for money, but full of bugs - we’re living in a society here people!, yet slick and polished, with interesting game/varients, but then game/varients gone, some interesting challenges, some boring challenges, time quiz challenge fun and challenging, lightning round/collect cards same as every single other game, some huge chip boosts some a waste of time, teams competition, by teams I mean the sea was angry that day my friends you get 2/3 of the entire points that the rest of your 14 player “team” manages for literally nothing, easy to use, but the non functional blinds system being WSOP is embarrassing and could set a bad precedent wrongly educating players in how they think blinds work, although can chose game NL or PLO and stakes, cannot chose a seat or table - no seat for you! or add chips (that I am aware of), yet it’s nice to level up, but then like an old man taking back soup stuck playing way too high stakes at the lowest possible level seemingly trapped forever if you ever go broke (which I have done 3-4x a day for a week - not all my fault - look up risk of ruin statistical analysis when buying in for 1 whole bet and ante in 3 card poker for 98% of your bankroll), so having said all that generally I like … unlike these Pretzels are making me thirsty! P.S. Jason Alexander is a nice touch and the perfect addition to Norman Chad Lon McEachern

I have over the years enjoyed many poker playing hours and I believe I have learned a bit about how WSOP works. I used to enjoy playing the tournaments offered in the past and didn’t mind wagering $120 million for the chance to win 5 to 1. Recent WSOP system changes have now eliminated even that replacing it with a series of tournaments that imply the potential of very high wins but the spin of the winners pot wheel has rarely reached anything higher that 4 to 1 with the vast majority of times being being 2 to 1. I play many of the speciality games, like kings table or Caribbean poker, etc and as I have said in earlier reviews, with little exception one can tell how they will lose a hand or in tournaments who is slated to win the very largest percentage of time. I raised my rating and I will say, for my play at least, that over the past few months there seems to be improvement on tournament odds, poker game player wins and speciality challenge quests providing payouts at a better rate. That said, and very unfortunately the site has grown into a more and more of “how else can we get folks to spend more money” site rather than one offering a poker based gambling platform that most were willing to purchase some chips to play and can enjoy the competitive aspects of poker playing.

The actual experience of actually playing poker is great. All of the points and gimmicks around it are mostly just annoying distractions. The club ranking system makes sense, and gives motivation for increasing rank, but pretty much every other thing the game throws at you feels pointless and irritating.

Obviously it tries to find a way to get you to spend a few bucks every chance it gets, and that’s fine. But honestly, part of the whole appeal of the game is earning my chips. If I lose it all and I’m down to just a couple million, I want to win my way back. I don’t want to just pay $5 to get hundreds of millions of chips.

One thing I would actually be happy to pay for would be if I could pay a few bucks to make the tournaments more likely to land on the huge jackpots. Every tournament starts with the jackpot spinner and it’s always 2x, very rarely 3x, or 4x, even though it does the dumb slot machine fakeout every time as if it was just about to land on a 10x before settling on a 2x (I really don’t like this stuff that tries to insult my intelligence). Here’s the thing: If I could pay $2-$3 to join a tournament with a 10x or 20x jackpot, I would. Let me pay for a chance to make my tournament win pay off in a huge way. Then I’d still feel like I was earning it. I’m just not compelled to spend money in any of the ways I’m currently invited to.
