Good Option

Orca is a good option for those looking to have a more newbie focused investment app as the app is easy to use, offers a somewhat guided investment approach and includes a bunch of lightweight info per stock such as earnings, dividends etc.

My only issues with the app are;

1) Stock Discovery isn’t the best as most other apps provide industry lists such as “Consumer Goods” by the way of a single click. Orca instead requires the user to type in and search for “consumer goods”.

^ This includes more steps to find a stock than the competition and needs to be looked into

2) It’s maybe too focused on newbie investors as I am an experienced investor (5+ years now) and it’s a struggle to invest openly compared to other apps.

^ Here I feel Orca could offer some sort of option in-app to state “I am not a newbie investor” giving the user access to more advanced features and less of a guided experience

Hopefully some changes will be made in these areas over time so I can leave Trading212 for Orca ☺️

Great for newbies

Never had anything to do with stocks before but this app makes it very easy to get started. I’m just playing with it for now with small purchases as to make real money in this game you need a fair chunk to start with.
My suggestions for future improvement are

1. Add more stocks especially new companies that are just getting started.

2. Penny shares for less financially able.

3. Better sub category’s for finding companies ie automotive, agriculture, production etc.

Update in response to the dev comments.
What I mean as regarding sub category's is a list of available ones in alphabetical order rather than randomly searching for a category that is not supported yet.

Wow, thank you for such a great review and your feedback! We are really glad that you enjoy Orca being new in the investment world and we will keep it up for you!😉
We are going to add more stocks to invest in for sure, and we have stocks below £1 already, but might add more soon as well!👌
As for the sub-categories, feel free to check it already on the Discovery page, simply enter "Banks"," Information technology" for example to see the related companies, however, I will also forward your suggestions to our product team to be reviewed!📱

Update: Thank you for clarifying regarding the sub-categories! We will consider this list for the future to make sure you enjoy your investment journey at Orca 🤗

I’ve never tried investing before and was recommended to use this app by one of my pro-friends. I love it so far, the app helps me with step-by-step guides. Also there was an alpha version before the official launch and this helped me to become a little more confident. Looks like a great start in the world of investments, big ups, guys!
