Angkas: Book a city taxi drive 4+

My first time using Angkas was on May 13, I was going to Ateneo from Pasig. When we got to Katipunan, the driver saw everyone wearing pink, and he asked me who I voted for. He laughed and spoke badly about my choice. The conversation suggested that he wasn’t financially fortunate, so I felt bad and I gave him a tip, then his mood changed from feeling resent to elated. I recently found out that Angkas openly supports a family with a history of human rights abuses. It’s a convenient app if you need to get somewhere fast for a cheap price, but naturally it’s not comfortable being a passenger on a motorbike. It could be better if it improved its customer service training for drivers, but I’ve decided that I would rather spend more money taking other forms of transportation just to avoid supporting an unethical business.

I’ve only used the app occassionally but the experiences were drastically different. The first few times were okay, but then there was a time when I was in a bit of a hurry and the driver that got booked was still 7-8 minutes away and there was already another driver in front of me. I thought that the one near me was the one that got booked but no it wasn’t. Please fix this issue where drivers far from our locations are the ones that get booked and the ones who are actually near us don’t. The main reason why I chose to use the app was because of convenience and the speedy time. It totally defeats the purpose of what your company stands for when I have to wait for a long time for a driver who may or may not arrive, and I have a free driver in front of me who I can’t even book!

Honestly, the app needs some heavy improvements. The app is barebones, and it doesn't even have any of the important features. One time, i exited the app, hoping to cancel the ride (cause you only have 5 secs to cancel your booking) but the next day the app still books a rider for me. Essentially, despite exiting the app in task manager, it was still running in the background. And to make things worse, the app didnt even have a working customer support. So it essentially wasted me and the riders time, trying to contact customer support.
Dont get me wrong, motorcycles as a form of quick and easy transport is very useful. Especially in manila where car traffic is such a time consumer. You can get from one place to another in a shorter amount of time with motorcycles than with cars. But because of how bad this app’s functionality is, i wouldn’t recommend it.
