Needs a little improvement-untimely.
I found this app a little over a year ago but at the time it wouldn’t work with my bank. I recently checked it and it was working with my bank which made me so excited. I immediately set up reoccurring deposits to go directly to my jar every Friday. I like earning the coins to play the mini games. However, with the roll out of their new debit card I have been concerned about the support service. I signed up to get a debit card and also set a direct deposit from my paycheck to the debit spending account. I recovered my debit card but i can’t get it activated which is very frustrating because there is no phone support. I submitted 2 support tickets with no response and then after my third ticket received a response that their email is backed up and they are working on my issue. I think I should be able to call in and talk to someone directly if said bank is handling my money. I don’t like hanging in limbo. Other than that, I have really enjoyed the app and the game keeps me motivated but customer service is great but untimely. Also the transactions stay in pending status for like over a week which is also kind of frustrating at times. I’ll keep using it because I do believe they are working to make this more efficient I just haven’t been 5 star satisfied yet.
The fun side of banking
Overall, I do enjoy this banking app. It can be addictive since it’s basically gambling, but you’re not actually betting real money. There are are some weird restrictions. For example, you can have only one external funding account and you cannot change it for 60 days. I haven’t found the ability to deposit checks using the mobile app or an online bill pay. Overall, the app is too complicated. The developer can easily simply it and add a few more standard modern mobile banking features and have an outstanding product. However, I don’t see that happening since the app is a product of multiple banking institutions (banks and credit unions) and middle companies like Dwolla, which is neither a bank nor a credit union but rather “holds” the money that’s being transferred from an external account into this game banking product. That’s way too many fingers in the pot that make it ever more complicated, and also unnecessary. Hence the 2 stars. I’d really give it 1.5 if I could but let’s just round it up. The bottom line: a mix of savings/checking account with 0.1% interest, which is rather low compared to what the serious online only banks are offering. It’s lower than what some regular brick and mortar banks pay on their savings. The app is also without the very basic banking features and design that looks like it was made on a Las Vegas strip. It has a lot of potential though, but I don’t see it lasting long enough to develop into something meaningless.
Developer Response ,
Thank you so much for taking the time to send us such thoughtful feedback, we really appreciate it. Really great to hear that you're enjoying the games and the "fun side of banking!" Mobile check deposit and online bill pay are frequently-requested features and are on our near-term product roadmap, so definitely keep an eye out for those soon. Thanks as well for your feedback on our interest rates: we believe that .1% interest is competitive with other financial products in the space, and we choose to invest more into game winnings and crypto rewards which directly benefit our users. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts on how to make Long Game better: we'll share your feedback directly with our product and design teams, and we'll keep working hard to improve our customer experience.
Already filled a jar!
I really like this game. I’ve been trying to make some of my friends play it too. I love the mini games and how they’ve set up the in game currency. I’m just hesitant on how long it takes to process everything. I have transactions from me transferring funds in from Sept 28 still pending and it’s Oct 4. I’m glad when I put in the money, I still had my own buffer of stuff in another savings account because if I did need money, I wouldn’t actually be able to transfer any of the stuff out for a good while. I’ve even finished filling up a jar and can’t even transfer that out to pay for the thing I was saving for as only 5% of the jars funds isn’t in pending status. Other than that small worry, I love the concept of the jars. Like I said I’ve already filled one up and gotten lots brains and all of the coins to keep playing the mini games. The gamification really helps motivate me to keep playing and putting money in. Without it feeling like gambling because I know my money isn’t going anywhere. I can only earn more money, they’re not taking any of it away. I plan on using this for a good while. I’m thinking of changing my goals a little to work around the pending thing. Instead of short term goals, I’d suggest longer termed goals.
