Love when journalists work to release information and facts .. journalists are supposed to be the “ watchers and gatherers of information . They are supposed to report The who, what, when, where, and why… they are not supposed to sit above the people, but report to the people. It’s nice to have another place to gather information and seek truth in reporting
Clickbait aggregator with news facade
Let’s be honest - ads are required for a news feed to survive if you don’t pay them real money. However, in exchange, I expect not to be served an endless feed of auto-generated pseudo-articles that lead you into clickbait sites. This is by far the biggest downside to the app - hey have zero interest in providing a high quality news feed. They do allow you to specify which sources you want to follow, then inject pure garbage into your feed. You can opt to dislike an article or block a source, but both respond with we’ll show you less of that.
The layout is also horrendous. The app was designed for an iPhone & only supports portrait format when landscape is often better scrolling at the top level. It doesn’t matter in this app though since they serve up a mix of half and quarter-screen stories rather than a tidy collection of titled thumbnails. The designs of Apple News and SmartNews are vastly better than this app. However, the former offers fewer feed choices and the latter injects so many adds that the app eventually freezes and requires force-quitting AND turning off your device WiFi to kill it. Still looking for a clean news reader.
Whole articles & photos do not appear!
Just got the app yesterday. This morning, none of the articles can be read in the app, and only a partial photo appears! I try opening it and I still can't see the whole article.
Plus, I really dislike that I cannot read this in 'Landscape' mode on my iPad!
I'll give it a couple of days to be fixed, and then I will be deleting it...too bad, because I was starting to enjoy it.
