Description

Tawakkalna Emergency app is the official app in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for managing emergency cases and community protection. It has played a significant role in containing the spread of COVID-19 and was developed by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA).

At the beginning of Tawakkalna launch, it aimed to contribute to the management of relief efforts by electronically granting permits during the “Curfew Period” for both government & private-sector workers as well as individuals. This in turn helped in limiting the spread of Covid-19 virus in the Kingdom.

During the “Return with Caution” period, Tawakkalna App launched several important new services that contribute to achieving a safe return, most notably clarifying the health status of its users through colored codes with the highest levels of security and privacy.

I went ahead and flew to KSA and then discovered that you can only complete the app questions AFTER you arrive in KSA. Then it was fairly simple with the only problem inputting my overseas phone number. In the end, I put in a friends’ Saudi local mobile number and the rest was easy. Make sure you do the Covid test after two days (if you don’t want to quarantine for a week). Results come thru I less than 24 hours.

Recent bug

The application has been very useful and great during most of time in time flying in and out of Saudi Arabia. But a week ago, I started experiencing a problem with the app. This one got disconnected for some reason, and when I try to log in it asks me to change the phone number (my saudi number didn’t change). When I try doing that, it tells me again that I cannot change the number. It seems like there is a loop, and I cannot find any solution. Please help.

Designed to fail

Went to ksa. 7 days quarantine. First the countdown clock on app is wrong. After it says 1 days remaining you wait for a day and think its over - no! Then there is a 24 hr countdown. Then it never turned green because none of the test i took are going to the app. Spoke to ministry of health 10 times (means 10hrs waiting on line), spoke to labs 15 times, app support 10 times. All are more useless than each other just pointing to others and nobody providing a solution.
They have failed miserably in designing this app and more importantly the process behind it.
