Can you push all the buttons?

Be warned. If you play this game, it is very likely that you will end up at the front of the queue in a café, staring at your iPhone intently while the woman behind the counter says “Hello. What can I get you? Hello? Hello…? HELLO?” Only when the person behind you taps you on the shoulder will you realise, with embarrassment, that you were in another world. The PUSH world, to be precise.

Yes, this game is so brilliant that it will have you fully absorbed within seconds of starting – partly because when you first begin playing you will have no idea what you're doing and you'll have to figure out the gameplay all by yourself.

As with most games from the same Poland-based indie developer Maciej Targoni, PUSH is an ultra-minimal, sleek-looking puzzle game.

There’s nothing to it, really. Just push the buttons in the right order to complete the level. But what is the right order? The more you play, the trickier that is to figure out. As the puzzle becomes more complex, there are additional buttons to push that will rotate the game board – and then you will find even more buttons.

Get it wrong, and the buttons will pop back out and you’ll have to start again. Get it right and you’ll get a rainbow flash of lights. There are no points to score, no leaderboards. The idea is that this game will relax you. The truth is that PUSH will frustrate you and delight you in equal measures.
