It starts with a boy, a dark wood and the sense that you should probably start running. Or start hiding. Or both.

There’s definitely something sinister going down in INSIDE, but it’s never clear exactly what. You’ll leap across chasms, pull levers and shove boxes onto switches to make your way through the game’s world. But all the while, there’s that creeping feeling of dread. Your next move could be your last.

From those panicky opening moments onwards, this game escalates in breathtaking fashion. Reach the conclusion of this thrilling puzzle-platform game and you’ll be left agog at what you’ve just witnessed. Seriously. So please, don’t search online about INSIDE before you play it right through to the end.

And when you have finished it, you won’t be able to resist heading online to join the debate around what it all means.

Never mind the beautiful visuals, incredible sound design and thoughtful puzzles; perhaps INSIDE’s greatest achievement is telling such an evocative story without any character ever uttering a word.
