wobinich (whereami)?

Maps are great as long as you have a data connection. If you don’t, trying to describe to someone where you are – especially in an emergency – can be difficult. wobinich is a simple App that allows you to send your latitude and longitude in a message. As long as you have a GSM connection (2G) you can send an SMS to someone.

The recipient of your message is sent your coordinates in four formats:

• Latititude and Longitude – for input into a GPS device and/or your recipient doesn’t have a smartphone
• Apple Maps URL – clicking on the link will open Apple Maps (iOS or Mac OS X)
• Google Maps URL – clicking on the link will open Google Maps (if available on the recipient’s device)
• Street Address – only sent if a data connection is available to decipher your location

Please Note

• Allow the App to use Location Services when it first starts up.
• You can only determine a street address when you have a data connection.
• Once you see values in the Latitude and Longitude cells, you can press the Share button.
• After selecting the Share button, select the type of message you want to send – as long as you have a GSM connection, you can send a SMS via the Messages App.
• GPS is available on selected iOS devices (most, but not all). If you have a device without a GPS chip, Location Services uses WIFI to determine your location.

Karten auf Smartphones sind großartig, solange Sie eine Datenverbindung haben. Wenn Sie kein Netz haben, kann es schwierig sein, jemandem zu beschreiben, wo Sie sich gerade befinden. Wobinich ist eine App, mit der Sie einfach und schnell Ihren Breiten- und Längengrad in einer Nachricht senden können. Hierzu benötigen Sie nur eine GSM-Verbindung (2G).

Der Empfänger Ihrer Nachricht erhält Ihre Koordinaten in vier Formaten:

• Breitengrad (Latititude) und Längengrad (Longitude) - für die Eingabe in ein GPS-Gerät/Navi
• Apple Maps URL - Durch Klicken auf den Link wird Apple Maps (iOS oder Mac OS X) geöffnet.
• Google Maps-URL - Durch Klicken auf den Link wird Google Maps geöffnet (sofern auf dem Gerät des Empfängers verfügbar).
• Die Adresse des Standorts wird nur gesendet, wenn eine Datenverbindung zur Entschlüsselung Ihres Standorts verfügbar ist.

Bitte beachten Sie

• Ermöglichen Sie der App, beim ersten Start die Ortungsdienste zu verwenden.
• Sie können eine Adresse nur ermitteln, wenn Sie eine Datenverbindung haben.
• Sobald Sie Werte in den Breiten- und Längengradzellen sehen, können Sie auf die Schaltfläche Teilen klicken.
• Wählen Sie nach Auswahl der Schaltfläche Freigeben den Nachrichtentyp aus, den Sie senden möchten. Solange Sie über eine GSM-Verbindung verfügen, können Sie eine SMS über die Nachrichten-App senden.
• GPS ist auf ausgewählten iOS-Geräten verfügbar. Wenn Sie ein Gerät ohne GPS-Chip haben, verwenden die Ortungsdienste WIFI, um Ihren Standort zu ermitteln.

Ich habe diese App entwickelt, damit meine Frau mir ihre Koordinaten beim Radfahren in Korfu, Griechenland, senden kann - wo viele Straßen und Wege keine Namen haben (sie ist auf dem Symbol abgebildet).
