- Knowledge Map

WordUp helps you build a map of your knowledge by identifying the words you know and the words you don't know. It helps you learn new words by identifying the gaps in your vocabulary and suggesting the most important and useful English words to focus on. By incorporating daily vocabulary and tracking your progress, the Knowledge Map enables you to steadily increase your vocabulary and enhance your understanding of English words.

All 25,000 useful English words are ranked in the order of IMPORTANCE, and USEFULNESS, based on how often they are used in real-world spoken English (extracted from thousands of movies, and TV shows).

To actually learn the words that you discover in your Knowledge Map, WordUp gives you everything you need, and more! From word definitions and pictures to tens of entertaining examples from movies, quotes, news, and more. So you get a good feel of how to use each word in context.

The daily reviews then kick in. Like flashcards, the words will come back with games and challenges until you master them. It's called Spaced Repetition, and it's scientifically proven to help memorise them forever!

WordUp is unlike any vocabulary builder app you've seen before. It is not another dictionary app, although it can be used as an English dictionary too.

Word up suggestions and ideas

I got some ideas for this app that I think they could be good, like, when we are learning a new word, we can also see its other tenses with their pronunciation, For example, I'm learning the word "See" and also in the word I can see it's other tenses such as "saw" and "seen" with the pronunciation and these words are used.. another example: "eat" "eaten" "ate" and so on with different words.
I think this would be useful for those who we're learning new words but when want to use them in a conversation, we're not sure how to use it in a different tense. , Another idea is, that we can have a separate section where we're only learning phrasal verbs, also it would be good if had a small option to translate the "example" of the word into our language, so that we are more sure about the meaning. Keep up the good work!

Limited Use with Pro

This app has some great features such as photos, videos, and several sentences that help the user get a good grasp of the words. Its limitations that I’ve found so far in this Pro Trial and of course with the free version is that while you can import a list from another source, having multiple lists to keep categories separate, are not available. Another short-coming is that once the user has gone through the list once, it is not available to go through again and new words must be studied — not the same words for review and there’s no way around it. One other thing I’ve noticed is that when importing words to study, many are not available, making it so many can not be studied with this app. I’ve also noticed absolutely no difference between the free version and the Pro so that’s something to think about. Why pay for the exact same limited features that you can get for free? 🤷🏻‍♀️ 9/5/23 — Is the developer serious? He responded by saying they are pleased I enjoy the app and if there’s anything they can do… Did they not read my entire review?

New update with new bugs!

It has been for a while that with each update, a handfull of new bugs and wierd behaviours are also introduced! Here are a list of buges that poped up to my head. Hopefully, considered by the developers as they seem not paying slightest attention to the bug reports sent to them privately through the inside of the application. 1. sometimes irrelevent words appear in the "compared to" section. Typically, the words that have been just reviewed and practiced previously appear in the compared to section in the upcomming flashcards. 2. It is not possible to disable the useless AI generated pictures from being loaded. Those pictures consume battery and data hugely while having no significant effect on the learning progress! 3. The feature of tapping on any word to return its meaning does not consistantly work accross the screen. Sometimes it recognizes wrong words when tapping on the screen and sometimes it does not even give any reaction! The dearest developers, please do beta test your updates before releasing them! We are trying to learn English here. Thank you for your consideration in advance!

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your feedback. We understand your concerns about new bugs introduced with updates. Please know that we take your report seriously and will address the issues you've mentioned.

1. We will investigate the irrelevant words in the "compared to" section and correct this.
2. We are exploring options to improve the AI-generated pictures and implement new features enabling users to turn them off or change them
3. Consistency in the word tap feature is a priority, and we will work on fixing it.

We appreciate your suggestion to beta test new updates. We aim to improve your experience learning English.
