Description

Earn rewards for healthy actions. Download Attain by Aetna® and sign in to see if you are eligible to participate, and which rewards are available to you if you are.

The Attain app combines your health history with Apple Watch® activity to offer personalized goals*, achievable actions, and rewards.**

This app integrates with the Health app and helps you:

• Earn rewards for hitting daily active calorie goals.
• Get reminders for important healthy actions: flu shot and other vaccinations; scheduling primary care visits and screenings; and refilling and picking up prescriptions.
• Get tips to sleep better, improve nutrition and increase mindfulness.
• Build healthy habits through challenges and daily activity.
• Get support for serious health moments, such as finding lower-cost options for lab and imaging tests like MRIs.

Who can enroll?
The Attain program is available to Aetna commercial medical members aged 18 and above and with participating plans. Other eligibility and participation requirements, including certain state restrictions and exclusion, may apply.

How do I earn rewards?
Hit your activity goals and complete healthy actions to earn points. Activity goals are based on your weight and sex. Some healthy actions are based on your personal health history. Meet your weekly activity goals and complete healthy actions to earn enough points each month to cover your Apple Watch payment (if eligible). Or use your points to get gift cards from popular retailers. Find out which rewards you’re eligible for by downloading and logging in to Attain.

Do I need an Apple Watch?
Yes. Activity from your Apple Watch — along with your Aetna health history — powers the program.

How can I earn an Apple Watch?
Order a base model in Attain then pay it off with points over 24 months. All you’ll pay initially is a one-time activation fee plus sales tax. You can choose to upgrade to a different model for an additional up-front cost. You will use the points you earn in Attain to cover all or part of the monthly payment of your Apple Watch.

What if I already have my own Apple Watch?
If you already have your own Apple Watch, you can use your points on gift cards from popular retailers.

*Goals and suggested health actions should not replace your doctor’s advice. If you have a medical condition that prevents you from meeting your goals, or if your doctor advises you not to take part in physical activity, there may be an opportunity for you to earn the same reward in a different way.

**Eligibility for particular incentives varies by health plan type and location, including availability of Apple Watch as a reward. Download the Attain app and sign in to see which categories of incentives are available to you. Participation in Attain requires an iPhone 6S or later running iOS 13 or later, and an Apple Watch Series 1 or later. Please note that some models of Apple Watch may have different compatibility requirements. Please refer to Apple’s website for further details to ensure compatibility with your phone.

In total, really great app

I’ve had this app for 2 years now. I love this app. I had issues with frequent logins but now I only experience it 1 to 2 times a month at the most. I appreciate that the app is intuitive in pushing my goal from originally 3 days a week to now 6 days a week. It keeps me motivated to push myself. I’m not sure how often the calorie goal is increased or what intervals it’s reviewed but I’ve had the same calorie goal for about 1 year. Even with my ability to meet and exceed the goal for weeks on end, I still have the same goal. I’m not complaining but I’m curious how it works. I LOVE the attain games that have been done in the past. They are fun and push you to meet new goals! The only issue I’ve experienced with the app is goals tracked for time (i.e. complete a 15 min workout to receive points). In some cases I’ve completed the goal but wasn’t awarded the points and the day passes and there’s no way to go back. I have no way of seeing it in my points history either as it just says “completed healthy action”. Other than small issues, overall the app is great! I’ve earned lots of points and I love being able to get gift cards to help with gift buying during birthdays or holidays. The only thing I’ve seen from others that was not offered to me was the ability to purchase an Apple Watch. I’ve had my Apple Watch for 4-5 years and I would’ve loved a new one if I was offered the ability to purchase one.

Hi Brookl, thanks for the feedback! To answer a couple specific questions, the daily goal is based on your weight and sex in HealthKit, so it won't change too often for most users. To see completed Healthy Actions, you can go to the Healthy Actions tab and then select "Completed" toward the top, and then anything you tap on will show you the details of the Healthy Action. Hope this helps and keep up the great work!

Ok if could set realistic daily goals and purchase watch through app.

Started to use this app as was offered by my early insurance and incentive to get moving. I tried to order the watch and was never able to, would take me to start of app. After several attempts to order Apple Watch and not able to as app kept freezing, in order to get app to work had to click on have my own watch. Needless to say had to purchase a watch and cost of paying up front to get so to work wish I could have gotten through app and pay monthly. I called customer service to inform of what happened and they advised they would eventually offer purchase of watch to those who couldn’t purchase due to app issues, this was a year ago and still nothing. Liked the idea of paying monthly and use points to pay for watch monthly but that didn’t happen for me. Would still like to get watch through app as watch I purchased is not working well.

Goals of hitting 750 daily points is somewhat attainable if you are very active. Even working in a shipping and receiving area I don’t reach my daily goal unless I track other work out from moving packages and walking around to deliver packages as nonstop for 30-45 mins. Goes from 3 times a week to 7 days to achieve daily goal. Watch is set to 600 as daily goal, most days I reach this but app has me at 750 and don’t reach this goal so much. Wish there was a way to change this to a more realistic goal.

Okay App

I have been using this app for at least 2 years. I agree with many others that the 7 day a week activity expectation was too much and a definite motivation killer when you missed a day, especially early in the week and knew no matter what you did the rest of the week you weren’t getting your weekly points. It made it easy to be lazy! With the change to 6 days a week I am definitely happier and most of the time hit 7 anyway. There are still a few things I think they need to look at doing that would make the app better. I would like to see statistics as to how I compare to others in my age group. I would also like to see the app designed for a walking pace that would make adjustments for elevation differences. I find it frustrating to look and see my “trend” showing a 19 and 20 minute mile when I am constantly dealing with the mountains and hills in my area and not walking flat streets. Maybe I should be logging that cardio under hiking instead of an outdoor walk, I don’t know. All in all I think the app does what it’s designed to do which is to keep you looking for ways to improve your health (I personally detest the “breathing” and “flexibility” challenges so being forced to do those weeks activities to get my points becomes a matter of my personal pride and keeps me on task). I also enjoy the periodic reward of a gift card when you have enough points. It’s not a lot but every little bit helps, right?
