Gets the job done but app design feels intentionally frugal

I understand why they upgraded, as the old app was fairly retro. However I wish it wasn’t done as cheaply. It feels like the experience is just a website shoved into an iOS application; each page takes a few seconds to load and the visuals are cleaner but do not match existing iOS paradigms.

Also, they force you to update the app every time there is an update available, which is pretty annoying.

Still a fan of WSECU in general but there are definitely some improvements that should be made. Don’t want them to continue scaling up and stop caring as much about their customers.

We appreciate your feedback; the opinion of our members is very important to us and always will be! We did intentionally mirror the website experience in the app so that our digital platforms have a consistent look and feel. While we did require that all users upgrade for this most recent release, we typically only require an upgrade once a user is a few releases behind. We won't always make such frequent updates; right now the app is still new enough that we are making continuous improvements and releasing them more often. Would like the option for multiple accounts

I have just opened a joint bank account with my husband, but I could not sign into this app using my email, and I called the bank to ask why this was the case. I got a hold of their app support and I was told that apparently only he can enroll in online banking as the primary account holder. He is also the only email that will be receiving information from the bank. Given that the point of a joint account is that multiple people are pooling their finances, I cannot understand how WSECU operates this way. I do not have access to my husband’s email, and I shouldn’t have to — I *should* have equal access as a member of the account. The app and online experience offer no alternative, and if I am incorrect about this lack of access, then it reflects poorly on the support person who did not explain a solution to me. I will be closing our account as soon as we have opened it and seeking a more functional bank. I haven’t even been able to try the app, but the instant roadblock led me to give it one star, which is, to be fair, more reflective of the bank’s practices.

Some kind of bug

I’ve been really happy with the credit union and app overall, but recently I’ve been running into a bug of some sort. It’s been happening for about 3-4 weeks. Every time I try to open the app, it freezes on a blank green screen. I force quit and try again, and it freezes again on the blank screen again. Sometimes it loads eventually, but lately I can’t even access it. It’s basically become non-functional. I don’t know why they felt the need to force us to download a whole new app, but the old one never had these kinds of problems.

I also don’t like that there are some actions I can’t take from the app, but it’s fine, I just want to be able to check my accounts from the app. Thank you!

So sorry to hear about this! this is an issue we've been made aware of recently and will be sure to pass this along to our development team to take a closer look. We've found that an uninstall and reinstall can alleviate the issue in addition to ensuring you have a strong data signal.
