Relay is a new platform for non-emergency safety concerns. No matter where you are in the United States, you can use Relay to get help when you need it.

We're trying to encourage collaborative crime-prevention and crime-solving by establishing better relationships between police and their neighbors, before a safety concern even happens.

With Relay, you report your safety concern and it's instantly routed directly to nearby first responders. Follow along as things progress with status updates, and even exchange messages with responding officers, so long as the responding agency is integrated with our platform.

Our crime map shows incidents reported and safety broadcasts from police and other public safety personnel nearby, so you can be aware of safety concerns and crime trends in your area.

Finally, you can sign up for alerts directly from public safety officials about hazards in your area, like pandemic updates, requests for crime tips, or warnings about break-ins, thefts, missing persons, and more.

At Relay, we think about privacy a lot. In fact, it's in everything we do, and that includes our app. We only ask for permissions on your phone at the time they’re needed, and we work hard to make clear what happens with the information you share, when you’re choosing to share it, rather than burying it in some privacy policy. It’s time for a new, honest, standard of privacy.

Get a sense of civic pride contributing to the public safety conversation, and be in the know on nearby activity. Together, we can all help make each community safer.

What’s New

Version 2.3.0

A small but mighty change: you can now get Broadcasts wherever you are. Traveling somewhere new? Riding a train? Out for a night on the town? Now you can get an alert when things are happening nearby, while you're on the go. Activate under your profile in Relay.

As always, your privacy is paramount, and we've ensured that police (or anyone else for that matter) won't have access to your location.

don’t see recent incidents

all i see as incidents near me is “animal complaint 10 days ago “ which has been showing for more than a week. I know there have been police reports since then!

Developer Response ,

Hi Missi, sorry about that. Right now, our map only shows things that have been sent to police via Relay. We hear you, though, and are working on ways to tap into police action otherwise. Stay tuned, and thanks for hanging with us as we keep improving! -John P, Relay Team

The best way to communicate with police

The Relay app is a seamless, easy way to communicate and report non-emergency incidents with police and have real-time feedback on reports. It’s much better than searching for and trying to call the non-emergency number and never knowing the outcome. Excited to see the future possibilities with the product.

Easy to use

It was easy to submit a police report on the app and within 25 minutes a police officer called me about it to get some more info. The Broadcasts feature seems pretty cool, I’m excited to see the app continue to grow in the future!
