You can manage or turn off auto-renew in your Account settings at any time after purchase

I posted my dog for sale and found a buyer but as soon as I went to reach out to them I get hit with a subscription why wait till after I found a buyer to tell me I need to pay you?

Strictly enforcing seller subscriptions helps us in detecting fraudulent ads posted by scammers and fraudsters.
Sellers must subscribe only if they receive a message from a potential buyer and wish to proceed with the chat.
