Description

Transform the way you take notes with AxNote.

Convert handwriting to typed text. Drag and drop images, and automatically crop them to the relevant part. Switch tools with a keyboard shortcut, and instantly annotate on a blank canvas, lined paper or on images. And it all works over SharePlay. AxNote is a next-level digital note-taking experience.

FEATURES

Magic Lens: Extract handwriting or text from photos and create text fields. AxNote can also detect the major object of photos, like a piece of paper or a diagram, and automatically crop the photo to its dimensions.

Magic Wand: Convert your handwriting to typed text just by drawing a box around it. And when you draw a star to the left of a handwritten heading, AxNote will convert that to a Section while maintaining its color.

SharePlay support: Collaborate on a note with up to 33 participants on a Group FaceTime call.

Layouts: Transform your Mac into a real notebook with a selection of preset Layouts, including lined and grid paper, typed paragraphs and a freeform canvas. Customize your layouts with specific measurements for line and grid spacing and colors. With AxNote+, craft your own canvas by creating a custom Layout with strokes that can stick to your page. This allows you to create an infinitely scrollable list without the need to re-rule lines.

Autoshape: Straighten hand-drawn shapes and scale them with Autoshape. This enables you to create perfectly accurate diagrams. Works with squares, circles, triangles, and stars.

QuickTool: Press and hold on the drawing canvas to open a mini tool picker to quickly switch your active tool.

Pins: Pin what matters most to your notes simply by drawing a rectangle around important content. You can access your pins from anywhere in a note, allowing for quick access to important content.

Layers: Trace around images and toggle their visibility. Since AxNote works with PencilKit, you can copy your drawing strokes to any PencilKit supported app.

Image and Table support: Drag and drop images anywhere in a note. Create simple text-based tables with customisable fill and border colors.

Sections: Skip to relevant parts of a note by marking Sections in the sidebar.

Files app integration: AxNote works with the Finder, enabling you to save your notes anywhere — including in the cloud.

Best free note taking app!

I have tried ALL of the free note taking apps but and this one by far is the best. This includes PDF exporting, a clean display, and looks very similar to Apple’s Files app which I love. It has multiple sections and folder so organization is not a problem. Very simple and efficient. One specific detail is that the highlighter highlights UNDER the writing, which is AMAZING. Seriously don’t know why there aren’t more reviews on this app.

Good start

I do like how native it looks, but at the same time, I think it feels way too much like Apple Notes. It doesn’t have any zoom and the handwriting is the same as apple notes, mediocre. If you can fix those two things, I think this app has some serious potential!

Edit: Also if you want an example for what I consider to be the best handwriting I’ve seen in a note taking app, try Element Notes which is what I’m using right now, but I want to ditch it because it’s been unstable on newer updates and the dev seems to have abandoned it.
