From time to time, the Canary auto-mode switching feature may briefly access your GPS in order to have high confidence in your location. Battery life is very important to us and we do many things to ensure we use it sparingly. Please be aware that continued use of GPS services running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Okay, not horrible
Update: Still using our Canaries with no subscription; your mileage may vary but ours work just fine. I like the way it now puts a little square around where the motion is so I know it’s just the heater moving the curtains, or just the wind blowing the trees outside. When we have renters at our cabin it’s easy to take the indoor camera out while they’re there, put it back in when gone. We have Ring cameras on the outside that are permanently installed, no easy way to disconnect temporarily. Will continue to use our Canaries because for us they do exactly what is needed.
We have had our canaries for almost two years I think? Yes, we were extremely unhappy when they pulled the rug from under us and took away free features we used to have. They know it was a huge mistake...fortunately I now see 30 seconds of video when motion is triggered, for 24 hours, which is better than what I had before (it was 12 hours per device previously). This is free, no monthly charge. I don’t understand the reviews that say they are not recording videos when motion is triggered because mine do. Complain all you want but you won’t find a better deal with any other security camera. I’ll keep using my canaries (for live views and motion triggered notifications and videos) until this free service goes away. Then I’ll look into something like Nest, but hoping it won’t come to that.

Worst security System that I have ever encountered. The idea is great but this company is the worst tech company & customer Service business I have ever dealt with. Yes the device looks good and yes the app seems like it would be exactly what you need but it is HORRIBLE. The app crashes repeatedly, & I have IPhone XS Max on Xfinity X1, It only records when there is a movement but it misses huge chunks of moment and sometimes detects motion and starts recording after the object is gone. On top of that if you want to have any feature Beth ;) will do you any type of good you must have a ridiculously expensive membership [ the cameras are NOT CHEAP] And when you have the membership it still misses Huge chunks of movement. We got It to watch our dogs and one of them I have to go to the emergency vet and we went to check what happened and the whole morning was missing. What’s worse is that when we tried to contact support they couldn’t help us and told us to delete and re-download. Finally I was able to get somebody on the line who has to Wait for 48 hours to see if he can get the footageback to me. Doesn’t work as a babysitter much less a security system. I will be looking for This service with a different company the canary Isnt even worth selling I’m going to just throw it away so nobody else has to go through this headache. 0 stars if I could.
Great Product became totally unreliable
I loved this product when I first got it, it runs very differently now. Not smooth even with a strong WiFi connection (I work in Rockefeller Plaza and have a wired connection at home, there should be no cannot connect you at this time message). Very slow to load, The red banner appears often, and they’ve constantly taken away features I took for granted to include in a membership. The membership does not improve the signal glitches. If you get this product now you will have to expect random connectivity issues every time you try to access your canary device. I bought this for security and do not feel secure. In fact, I bought this at first mainly to protect against home invasion but without subscription, recording is turned off when I am home. A robber can come into my apartment and beat me and my puppy to death, take everything, and Canary will not record a second of it anymore. I feel like I’m stuck with Canary until I can afford a new camera but if you are a prospective buyer looking for a reliable camera for peace of mind, go with Logitech and spare yourself of this company that had a great product and ruined it with their greed.
