Think faster on your feet
CLOCK YOURSELF = Physical exercise + cognitive exercise (simultaneously) x SPEED
When our balance fails us we need to react with a quick step in an unanticipated direction. This is as true for athletes as it is for the elderly.
Designed by an Australian physiotherapist and based on the best available evidence from the realms of cognitive science, sports science and falls prevention, CLOCK YOURSELF introduces physical exercises with cognitive exercises, simultaneously, to train psychomotor speed.
All five levels of CLOCK YOURSELF activities are based around an imaginary clock face beneath your feet, so you have 12 intuitive co-ordinates / reference points to step to without needing to wire up mats or sensors.
To set up all you need is about 2m x 2m of space and a smartphone or tablet with functioning audio.
To Clock Yourself means to “clock” your own brain. It guides you to reach your fullest potential in each activity, in a measurable way so that you notice the improvements in your cognitive processing speed and reaction times.

Ratings and Reviews
Good for all skill levels
I’ve used this with clients who need to work on balance and coordination. It has been well received by a wide range of people, from those who play competitive sports to those who are recovering from a stroke and those who are older and trying to reduce their fall risk. I also have used the cardio setting as a home work out. Instruction videos are clear and easy to follow, and the different challenge levels and settings make it easy to find the right difficulty level.
Innovative and beneficial
Clock Yourself’s instructions, including the animated pictures, are both clear and easy to follow. And I like that some of the help is simple and direct without being patronizing or insulting, rather it is SMH obvious in case someone didn't quite catch something. Even at the default bronze level, I can see the need to concentrate, and feel the benefits for balance, agility, and a good cardio workout. The speaker’s voice is pleasant, clear and professional.
I will try the higher levels, challenge myself, and see how I do.
Glad I tried it. You should too!
As a physical therapist I really appreciate the thought that has gone in to this app. This can be used for low and high level balance challenges as well as dual tasks! This will be great as a tool for treatment both in the clinic and as a home exercise program. Thank you for creating this app!
