CullAi 4+

Does a very good job of selecting the most valuable photo in a folder. This is the core technology that makes it a promising app. Developer has already noted valuable future features. Can't wait.

Decided to download this after seeing an artlicle about it on PetaPixel. It seemd promising. However, it's a half in the bag product. Importing is decently quick. But in Photo Mechanic importing isn't necessary.

I imported 2100 images. The import took about 1min 30secs. But still It took such a long time to generate thumbnails and recognize faces. But once imported it's unclear how to manually cull images. Overall it's unclear how to use the software.

The culling flow is terrible. You have to click and image to star it as a favorite. Once you click the image, a large view displays and then you can click the star. That's too much clicking.

Very basic menu options with no real functinality in the menu. I wold not recommend purchasing this. Instead purchase Photo Mechanic. Although it's more expensive, you save time like FRICKING CRAZY culling with Photo Mechanic. I'm a wedding photographer with 19 years of experience and I can I have wasted tons of time culling with other means and through Lightroom. Best of luck!

Thanks for feedback, Assuming 2100 photos were from same photoshoot, as CullAi is meant to process photos from one photoshoot at a time. Assuming generating thumbnails took 1.5 mins, and Ai analysis took somewhere around 5 mins for 2100 photos.

We think it is efficient to go through 50-200 distinct auto culled photo groups after 5-10 mins of background Ai analysis rather than manually checking 2100 photos one by one in photo mechanic. Having said that we are working on to minimise importing and analysis time even further.

We understand shortcomings in our first version and have released 1.1, which has keyboard shortcuts for sprinting through all photo groups and Ui help elements among other things to address your concern. Please give it a try and stay tuned, we won't stop until it is fastest, accurate and feature rich culling experience.

Some of our upcoming features:
- group view showing similar image grid with all images zoomed in to faces / salient features in single key stroke
- more robust and compatible rating system
- inter operability with editing apps like Lr

We are in no way criticising Photo Mechanic, but we don't see much point in comparing CullAi to Photo Mechanic as it doesn't give ability to
1. group similar photos to compare them and better manage while culling
2. filter photos with objectively bad quality photos - out of focus, closed eyes, bad lighting
3. detect people in photoshoot to select better photos in groups of similar photos

I tried an import on the Lite version and it didn't do anything. So I tried the Trial Version and it STILL didn't import anything.

So I looked to cancel the trial before it charges me, and I can't FIND how to cancel the trial. Looks like I may need to find an attorney for when they illegally charge me card.

Regarding payments: TLDR; At end of 14 day trial Apple will not charge you automatically. As of today, both 14 day Trial and Standard version are one time in app purchases. If you approve 14 day Trial, as it is free nothing is charged. Apple will only charge when you specifically buy Standard version one time purchase. Apple confirms with you before doing so. In any case you can always ask for refund from Apple.
