Great for auditions - with a few exceptions
I use this app for auditions but I use other apps for rehearsals and cues. Those apps don’t handle the audition process well. Could you add a way to upload a video submission? I get them emailed from people who can’t make it to the in person auditions.
Finally a useful app for theatre directors, producers, and stage managers! Love this for my professional and amateur theatrical production notes. Really cool, version two includes photo tagging.
Huge time saver
On the one hand,this app gave me back an hour of rehearsal per day. No more sitting around for an hour while I gave notes. I love the freedom of moving about the space and taking only my iPad with me. No more bulky notebook with clip light.
I love writing a note, hitting send, and then seeing those notes as a reality in the next rehearsal. I sent as soon as the rehearsal ended which allowed some actors to pull them up on their smart phones and ask for clarification right away. Saving time because they aren't asking while everyone else sits and waits for their notes.
What made this better than face booking notes is that everyone only got the notes for the scenes they were in. For props and costumes, I only sent them for the scenes in which they had notes. Major bonus. No more looking through everything to find their own notes.
First Problem: no matter how I format the notes in the app, they appear in people's emails as a huge block paragraph. I took to adding ellipses between notes and this solved the problem. I also had to put a persons name at the beginning of each note so they knew which notes were theirs.
Second problem: The app does not save cast lists, scene page numbers, or photos for scenes. This must be entered every time I start a new notes day. There should be a way to save all the show info so that it is attached to all notes.
Third problem: minor for now. Each act section includes 8 scenes. There is no way to make these go away so they show up as blank space in the notes. Also, it only goes up to Act 3. Shakespeare uses 5 acts. So I don't know what adjustments I will have to make for Twelfth Night next year.
I am really looking forward to the promised added features.
