Description

FirstRoot is the world’s first platform for collaborative financial decision making in schools. With the FirstRoot app, students work together to invest real money on projects that they create. Here’s how it works:

1) A teacher or school signs up and sets a budget

2) Students create proposals for investment in their school

3) Students learn about finance and refine their proposals

4) Classmates vote on the proposals

5) Winning proposals are implemented

FirstRoot’s app follows the principles of Participatory Budgeting, a method of democratic financial decision making endorsed by the United Nations and in use all over the world.

Paying it Forward

Showed this App to my niece and she is taking the idea to her teachers. I feel this is a great technique for student engagement with improving their school and learning about the budget process and financial concerns. Thank you for the opportunity!

Beautiful app for kids to engage and learn $$$ lessons

I wish this had been available 10 years ago when my kids were in school!

Awesome engagement for kids

My daughter is really excited about the opportunity FirstRoot creates to participate in project management for her school’s kid-directed impact projects. Great way to get kids engaged in person and virtually!
