Editors’ Notes

Some games are pure joyrides. Others are gloriously soothing—like Flud. We adored its understated design and how elegantly its clever puzzles wash over the screen. The challenges—which involve clearing blocks in swiping combinations—steadily grew in complexity until we found ourselves totally engrossed.

I like it BUT...

I'm done with the pink/magenta level and onto the Blue section but to me seems impossible. Arrows don't line up correctly, for being able to pass through the walls. I've tried to look for walkthroughs to make sense of what I'm not understand but can't find any. The devs need to look into this, I don't want to feel like I've wasted my money here.

Crafty puzzles with a few small kinks

Flud presents challenging puzzles with polished design and animation. Its grid-clearing concept bears some similarities with games like Mr. Square, Fold, and Blip Blup, but features its own unique mechanics.

The puzzles are well-crafted and satisfying to solve, striking a good balance between logical deduction and lateral thinking. The animations provide some nice eye-candy, but they're just slow enough to become an annoyance during play, as the UI stays completely unresponsive until after all the blocks have finished doing their dance. This means waiting several seconds every time you make or undo a move, which quickly grows tiresome as the levels become difficult.

The tiny navigation buttons can be hard to press on smaller devices. I've experienced occasional minor glitches, both with the graphics and placing arrows, but nothing that critically hindered play. The app does seem to use more CPU than necessary, battery drain has been an issue on my device.

However, all of these faults are overshadowed by the quality of the puzzles. Overall, Flud is a fun, challenging puzzler that could benefit from a few under-the-hood refinements to improve the user experience.
