We are very proud to present update 2.5.0 to our iOS app. This update has been months in the making and features significant upgrades as well as fundamental improvements at its core to enable us to ship more features in the future. ADDED: Smart Proxy Routing! Have you ever interacted with a service that suddenly cut off all connectivity simply because you were using a VPN? Well we added a compatibility layer to help resolve these issues. This new feature can be found in the Advanced menu of Guardian Settings and requires no further configuration, though only US based servers are currently compatible. Smart Proxy Routing is compatible with both IKEv2 & WireGuard tunnels ADDED: Trusted networks! Add the SSIDs of your trusted networks in order to automatically disable the VPN tunnel. Once you leave a trusted network, the VPN tunnel will automatically reconnect to ensure your privacy is protected. FIXED: Upon changing the blocklist feature without an active VPN tunnel established the app could potentially show a confusing tunnel status that could possibly be read as the tunnel being connected when it wasn't FIXED/CHANGE: The switch to enable the blocklist feature now only sets the preference for the feature to be enabled, instead of also indicating whether or not the feature is actively running. Version 2.3 is a new milestone update that we are very excited about. It introduces official support for the very popular WireGuard transport protocol, potentially speeding up the connection to our VPN nodes greatly. The update also significantly reduces the amount of third party resources included in Guardian while retaining the same looks and functionality. Due to this new capability we were required to set the minimum compatible iOS version to iOS 13. We are currently not planning to further increase the minimum compatible iOS version. FIXED: A handful of users noted that their in-app purchase subscriptions were being ignored entirely which led to them being unable to enable the firewall by establishing the VPN connection. This problem should now be resolved and new notifications should be marked as read properly. NEW: Bypass Firewall Rules - The first addition of new features for Pro subscribers, Bypass Firewall Rules, can be found in the Advanced menu of Guardian’s in-app Settings. This can be useful when accessing apps and websites which do not function properly if tracking/advertising software is blocked. ENHANCEMENT: To continue improving our support team’s ability to resolve issues for users, we have introduced a persistent log feature. No personally identifiable information is ever logged, nor do the contents of the log ever leave your device unless specifically enabled in our Contact Technical Support form. The log is never longer than 200 lines to be respectful of your device's disk space and always stored in plain text to be easily accessible and reviewable by any customer. It is recommended to keep this setting enabled, but we understand and respect if some customers prefer to disable it. If you prefer to disable it, please navigate to Guardian Settings > Advanced and disable Persistent Debug Logs in the Local Data Management section. We also resolved a few minor bugs, including a bug which would immediately ask to setup the Guardian Configuration VPN profile after initially downloading and opening the app. Fully resolved, the tunnel configuration is only installed if the Exceptions feature is enabled. After some very helpful reports from a few users with lots of screenshots we were able to hunt down a state disconnect in the Exceptions feature. Sometimes it would be off when it shouldn't be and sometimes it would end up being enabled when it shouldn't be, but no more! Once enabled, the Exceptions feature should now be turned on and off with the VPN connection automatically. If the VPN connection to our secure nodes is enabled and you setup Exceptions for your device, the feature should always be enabled, unless manually disabled of course. We added a new feature for our Pro users that subscribed via the in-app purchase to cross authenticate in our new Mac app. Instead of copying a long scrambled piece of text into the Mac app you now only have to tap the button "Generate macOS Access Code" in Guardian Settings > Advanced and then type the 6 character string into our app on your Mac. We hope that this significantly streamlines the process for our customers interested in trying our new Mac app. This update also addresses a couple of crashes, especially in our Notification menu which should no longer happen. If you have noticed a website or application on your iOS device is acting up or simply won't load while Guardian is connected, this new feature solves this issue by allowing you to simply add the website URL or application to the Exceptions list. Once added, these specific apps or websites will be excluded from being routed through our firewall to create an uninterrupted experience all while continuing to protect and filter all other traffic as you use your device. Enter any hostname you wish to exclude or search for the name of an iOS app in our database with over 14,000 analyzed applications. Our app database continues to be regularly updated to ensure the best possible compatibility. For Pro users, we have completely overhauled the interface to generate additional VPN credentials, and added more sharing capability to share VPN credentials to other mobile OS using a .sswan StrongSwan compatible file. This update also includes the ability to reset the Alerts menu counts to zero. It is like a day trip odometer for your app allowing you to quickly reset everything, as if you had just downloaded our app for the first time.

In this update we made an improvement to our new user onboarding flow to better handle the introductory Day Pass lifecycle.
