Powerful, flexible and simple task management that is a pleasure to use, The Hit List can handle personal tasks and professional projects. Use it with The Hit List for iPhone v2.3 (available on the iOS App Store) which includes The Hit List for Apple Watch and enjoy fast, reliable sync service included with the purchase of the app.
It is as easy to use as making lists.
Neutralize chaos, and recapture your time and focus. Your life is complicated enough as it is. The tool to manage your life shouldn't be. The Hit List keeps things simple by not forcing you to learn a system. It can be as simple as just keeping a list of things to do as you would on a piece of paper. However, if you do use a task management system such as Getting Things Done by David Allen, The Hit List is flexible enough to support you.
Capture and forget what you need to do later with The Hit List and get your "now" back, with confidence.
The Hit List includes sync service to sync with The Hit List for iPhone and The Hit List for Apple Watch (sold separately on the iOS App Store) or other Macs.
• Mojave compatibility fixes
• Improved handling of sync push notifications

GTD that works for me
I am not a GTD expert but I understand the concepts and have a need to be more organized. I have used betas or trial versions of many apps, Things, Omnifocus, Wunderlist, Appigo Todo, and although many of these apps are very good it just didn't quite work for me. The Hit List though seemed to click. The app has a beautiful user interface, multiple ways to get tasks in (drag & drop, copy & paste, quick entry shortcuts) and ways to organize your tasks (folders, lists, tags). The best features to me is the many keyboard shortcuts, they make the app fun and easy to use. Definitely worth the money and for me is the best GTD app I have used on a Mac. Go download a trial from their website and give it a shot.
I bought the iPhone app and sync services. The iPhone app was just released and it also has has an attractive user interface but I think it needs a little more refinement and features. That being said it still is a great mobile option for getting things into The Hit List and getting them done. I was skeptical of the sync services but the reviews were very positive and I have to say they were right on. Super fast and accurate. Based on how many of these GTD Mac to iOS syncing services work these guys nailed it. worth the 20$ no doubt. Can't wait for the iPad app.
The Best To Do Manager – and I've tried them all - EDITED
I regretfully have to update the glowing review I wrote below. It's 3 yrs since Karelia has updated this app or supported in any way. It was a bit buggy under Mojave but now in Monterey, it crashes constantly. The functionality is still the best – but now I'd have to recommend NOT buying it. Such a shame!
I've been using The Hit List off and on for several years but only recently upgraded AND got the FREE iPhone app that works well, and has instant push notifications. It made a very good product excellent.
I've tried a ton of other apps and they all had limitations that were deal breakers. Things is very good but too inflexible and, frankly, too expensive for the feature list. Where Things is rigid, the Hit List allows you to organize the way that YOU like to see your lists. The easy shortcuts for outlining the lists and keeping them organized make it a quick and painless experience to use.
That said, I only gave it 4 stars because while I haven't had many issues (so far), a visit to the developer's website shows that user feedback and questions go unanswered for months or years. The commitment to an excellent piece of software is a little iffy.
But it works and it's elegant and easy and powerful.
• Crashes when making new lists
• New tabs cannot be selected
• Lots of rendering issues requiring the window to be resized to render properly
