When I first started using the Chinesimple apps, the lifetime membership was relatively affordable. Now it’s $120. It was worth it at the lower price - it definitely isn’t worth $120! I continued to use the levels I hadn’t bought lifetime memberships for because there was enough free content to still be useful. Not anymore. They removed ad sponsored content and moved everything that used to be accessible for free with ads to the paid version. This was a money-grab, pure and simple. Now the app is practically useless if you can’t afford ridiculous fees. And before the devs come back saying there’s a monthly subscription option - that’s even worse. Don’t waste your time or money on this app.

The lifetime plan was never meant to be the long-term focus of our pricing model — in fact, we plan to remove it soon to align with most modern learning platforms.As for the ad-supported content, many users couldn’t access it at all due to regional restrictions (e.g. in China or Russia), and ads were becoming more disruptive than helpful. That’s why we unlocked much of that content (stories, games, basic exams) for free, even without ads. Only lessons remain partially limited.We understand that pricing changes are tough, but we continue to offer a full-featured free version, and our monthly plan is among the most affordable in the field.Thanks for using the app in the past, and we wish you the best on your learning journey. 🐼

I completely agree that this app is a huge rip off. I do not want to pay and then have the app restricted. This is not a video game with levels this is a language app. I feelThe developers are very disrespectful of learners who want to go at their own pace in their own way.
