Repetition is critical to master basic math facts and this app does it right. If you get a problem wrong, it keeps coming back to the problem until it is mastered. However, it doesn't just show the problem that was wrong over and over, it adds other problems to the mix to clear out short term memory before returning to the problem that was troublesome.One nice feature is the ability to select specific digits to practice. So if a student is having trouble with 7 6, you can maximize the problems shown with those digits.You can make it super easy or challegning for most anyone. It also have a fill in the blank option which approaches the math fact in another way helps.

As a math teacher and math tutor who has worked with a variety of students and age groups with different abilities, I find MathSmart Flashcards to be a worthwhile addition to the toolkit for helping students learn basic arithmetic. It has great configurability and excellent tracking which pinpoints areas to work on. This isn’t just for elementary school students. Older students can also benefit from doing the more advanced drills, stressing not just accuracy but speed as well. It can be a good confidence builder for students who need just a bit more practice in some areas, as they track and see their improvement over time.
