Love the game; drains your money, some advice for the devs
Tldr: try to actually watch how much you’re spending and how many dollars things cost before you spend all your money, it might not be worth it.
The direction of this game is great, adding a detective-like theme to otome games. The game is available to play for free, but it’s always pressuring you to pay to play, like having rewards for timed completion, or having very short chapters (can easily be read in a couple minutes) but only giving 5 free tickets per day (plus the occasional freebies). All the liar stories are like 30+ chapters, some way more, only a couple less. If you wanted to pay through the game you’d be paying way more than $100 for just the basic set of 9 liars. I at least wish you can exchange coins for tickets, because I have excess of those that I won’t really use. 1 ticket costs the same as 100 coins. Basic exchange right? Don’t scale the prices of other endings of Liars so much because endings are short and definitely do not cost the equivalent of 17 tickets. It’s like you’re being punished for not spending enough money to get the S score, so you make the ending for S way more expensive. I just want to read what would happen, don’t make it so expensive for no reason :( If you’re going off only on free tickets you’re almost guaranteed not to get an S even if you do well with the accusation part. It actually makes it not worth it to read the best ending.
Needs an update
This game is very interesting and has a new perspective for love games with the addition of a detective style. I played this game years ago and wanted to get back to it now, but unfortunately there has not been an update to the game for two years. Due to the lack of an update the player will not get past the first liar intro scene, after the visual it will just freeze. Hopefully they pick this back up and update the server so that it is Playable again since they are still working on the Japanese version, which gets constant updates. So the only hope for this game is if he gets an update besides that it is unplayable.
“Gay” Fortune teller
This app is actually pretty cool. It brings something new to the mobile otome game market & a lot of people like the MC’s no-nonsense attitude. I appreciate that she has some faults herself, but there’s one thing that really bothers me. The main theme (10 guys, 9 liars) is dependent on a fortune teller who warns you about what’s going to happen. But not only does the MC assume that he’s gay (because he’s wearing a scarf??), her description of him to Yuri is rude & dehumanizing. I get that Japan isn’t as open-minded about these things as America but it’s really an unnecessary addition to the game. I love that there’s an LGBTQ+ character but why does he have to be put in such a negative light? I think at least the localization team could have changed this to fit more of America’s view— or at least have another character call her out for being homophobic. Anyway, I’m still going to play this game because it’s very fun, just something to note for anyone else LGBTQ+ out there.
