Description

Stellar Tour is the only AR stargazing app written by an astrophysicist. Become an expert on exoplanets, stars, the planets and moons of our Solar System, galaxies, nebulae, and more.

Stellar Tour is the ultimate guide to the cosmos. Point your device towards the night sky to explore any type of astronomical object. Astrophysicist Dr. Aaron Day provides a tour guide for alien worlds, rather than the standard inundation of random facts as if collected from a boring old encyclopedia. Stellar Tour tells the scientifically accurate tale of the conditions on the ground, in the seas, or floating through the clouds of the Solar System.

Exoplanet systems are displayed in their actual location on the sky. Exoplanet sizes, temperatures, and orbits are given for nearly all known exoplanets.

Using images collected up close by NASA's many probes, all the planets and major moons of the Solar System are displayed in exquisite detail. Planets and moons can be rotated and viewed from any angle. High resolution images are displayed in vibrant color, representing not just visible light, but ultra violet, infrared, and even radar when available.

Take the Stellar Tour!

Truly Amazing App for Astronomy fans!

If you have a curiosity or already love Astronomy I couldn’t recommend this app more. It’s so detailed and well made. The animations are so smooth. And as you move your phone around the sky it’s so awesome to see in real time the things our eyes just don’t catch.

The developer helped improve the app with the kindness and professionalism that you wished every app developer had. Cheers to you Aaron, you have such a gift as an artist. I will buy any app you ever create in the future. Cheers!

Developer Response ,

Thanks for taking the time to give feedback. In the next release, there will be a way to turn off constellations. I’m not a fan of them myself (if that’s not clear from the text) but a lot of people have requested them.

In regards to the L-shaped black border, I haven’t seen anything like this in any of my testing. Apple makes many devices, so it’s possible you have one I haven’t tested on. If you could let me know which device you’re using, and maybe even send me a screen shot, that would be incredibly helpful in fixing this bug.

Also, if you have any feature requests, please send them my way.

Stellar Tour

I would like to take this opportunity to express how I feel about this app. It is a very good app to use for learning all about the planets in our galaxy. The true location of the planets and the many stars throughout space are easy to find using the search function. I will be recommending this to all my friends. Thanks for putting together this wonderful app that can also be used for a learning tool.

Excellent

This is an excellent product in so many ways. I’ve tried it out on a friends iPad a few nights before I decided to get it myself. A great teaching aid for my grandson who at 8 years of age loves star gazing and dinosaurs. The only negative thing that I feel should be addressed is the font used to identify the objects in the sky. The thin stroke serif face is hard for older eyes to see and is most frustrating to me. Perhaps a thicker stroke San serif face that can be dimmed if need be.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your suggestion. In the latest version of the app, you can control the font sizes used for the labels you speak of on your iOS settings.

Go to Settings > Accessibility >Display & Text Size

From there, you can turn on bold text. You can also adjust the font size in the “Larger Text” section. These settings will control font sizes in every app on your device, including Stellar Tour.

Hope this helps!
