Ratings and Reviews
Buggy, but enjoyable
Solid re-skin of Marvel Legendary for digital media. Content is fairly limited for now, but they do seem to be releasing more expansions over time. Art is nice, and UI is relatively straightforward on pc and iOS. As other reviews mention, it is prone to freezing or otherwise glitching out. A refresh usually solves the problem, but it shouldn’t have to be done as often as it is now. High scores on the campaign are unachievable, as they took advantage of patched out bugs yet were left intact on the leaderboards. Online play with strangers is nearly non-existent, so you should make friends who play to game to get the most out of the app.
This digital version is great
DXP is a very fun digital adaptation of Marvel: Legendary with original artwork due to the lack of the Marvel license. Don’t let that stop you from playing it though because I actually think the original art has its own whimsical charm (Turning Deadpool into a dragon for instance 🙂)
It also has a good tutorial and single player content that keeps you engaged and teaches you the game pretty easily.
The game also has fairly constant updates, a fun community on discord (which kinda feels like a pre-requisite if you want to find online games consistently.) Although I do kinda wish they dropped the heroes and masterminds for an expansion at the same time.
All in all I highly recommend downloading this game if you’re at all interested in Marvel: Legendary, and want to play it cheaper although if you’re like me you might pick up the physical card game too.
Edit: The New U.I is very intuitive and the new single player “raids” mode is a ton of fun and a great way to level up.
Difficulty is way imbalanced vs physical game
I love the board game version of Legendary and own every expansion(except that cinematic waste of time one). I was really hoping to see a similar game, but instead this one is a mess.
The so-called campaign is just a series of regular games with each chapter against a set mastermind using different schemes and hero combos. There is no story at all, so it amounts to a solo mode with unknown restrictions that you have to spend energy to play.
The raids are ludicrously difficult with almost no rewards and they take half your energy to even attempt. Due to the random nature of the cards, you could lose a raid in 6 or 7 turns without any chance to even learn the combos they have forced you to use.
I don’t mind buying expansions and upgrades, but if it’s just a re-skin of the table top game but with horribly designed restrictions, I’ll just go play the physical copy and find another digital time waster.
