Ratings and Reviews
Amazing, Just One Little Nit-Pick
I’ve made two in-app purchases so far (song pack for Ivy and unlocking Cherry) and I don’t regret either one. This game is really, really well made, with so much effort put into every part of it. All the songs are (in my personal opinion) either really good or at least decent, everything is laid out really nicely, the actual gameplay itself takes a little bit to get used to, but is really well-done, the art and character designs are really nice, and probably many more I just can’t think of at the moment. I have a tendency to play a game I’ve just gotten a l o t for a few days to a few weeks, but then I’ll stop playing for a while. If I r e a l l y like the game, I’ll come back to it many times, and that’s what has happened with this game.
The only thing I think could be improved is how difficult it is to press the pause button while you’re playing. I’m not sure if it’s just me who’s having this problem, but I always have to press the pause button multiple times before it registers that I’ve paused, causing me to miss a lot of circle thingies (I don’t know what they’re called, but if you’ve played it or watched the video the App Store shows to give you a preview, you’ll know what I mean). This isn’t actually detrimental to the gameplay, just a little frustrating, especially when the song is really difficult.
Aside from that, there’s nothing horrible I can think of that the game does.
Mobile Masterpiece-Worth Every Penny including DLC
**update i played through Nora’s DLC And a piece of my heart just broke....***I never leave or write reviews on an app but I had to with this game. I downloaded it as soon as it launched and I was hooked from the opening scene. The music is amazing and the art is beautiful. When version 1.1 came out and I saw the cutscene I was floored at the quality at the animation for it and the song they chose for seemed like a piece of each characters style. I’m studying animation right now and I wish I was a part of Rayark helping make this. and I wished that this was turned into a show because the story is just as amazing. When a game is high quality like this I do not mind at all supporting the devs and buying the DLC. I ended up getting Xenon and ConneR for right now and I was stunned at the music they had for Xenon because what rhythm game uses actual heavy metal? The story that comes with them gives you more backstory to what is going on now. And I plan on buying all the other characters. This is hands down the best mobile rhythm game on the market and worth every penny. *********spoiler*********
When Neko’s stream got hacked I was on the edge of my seat with the music and the. When Robohead finally confirms that Aesir-fest happened and you get that song, seriously that song is so beautiful and gives me chills every time I play it and it is literally the embodiment of what I love in my electronic music.
I normally don’t leave reviews, especially for games, but I had to leave one for this. I haven’t played the first Cytus game but I got this one for the Miku update. As a huge Hatsune Miku fan, I was very curious to see how they would incorporate her into this. I was pleasantly surprised with how they portrayed Miku and how their original story grabbed my attention and kept me wanting to know more. As for the other characters, I love how everyone’s story connects in some way. The characters are all interesting and unique and the songs for each of them are very fun to play and listen to. I also enjoy reading the Twitter-like social media posts and how everyone interacts with each other. The rhythm game aspect of this is something I’m genuinely impressed with. Some games you have to build teams with special characteristics or get special items that save you from having an offbeat note deducted from a full combo, and I don’t especially care for that. In this game, if you miss, you miss. And it makes me want to get better at the more difficult levels to improve my skill and timing rather than spend money on things that will save my offbeat notes for the sake of a full combo. Overall, this game gets 5 stars from me. It’s well made, has great art, great music, and an actual in depth story to it. Well done!
