'the BackSeat’ is an automatic alerting system App designed to remind parents and caretakers of small children not to forget a little one behind in a hot car to be injured or worse. The App only needs to be set up one time upon download with all necessary information. (User info, Auto info, Children info, “Alert team” members and Settings) Automatically after each car ride, ‘the BackSeat’ App will automatically alert the user reminding them to make sure all passengers are safe and accounted for. If for some reason the user is so distracted that the increasingly louder alerting process to the users smart phone fails, ‘the BackSeat’ will automatically summons help from 3 pre-determined friends or family members (set up by user upon registration) via email and text message, alerting them to the possibility of a little one left behind. ‘The BackSeat’ will even inform the users “Alert Team” members as to the GPS location of where the users car stopped along with a description of the primary vehicle the user drives. (as indicated by user upon registration) ‘the BackSeat’ settings are also customizable to suit the needs of each caretakers schedules where they are most likely to have small children, as well as able to be used by daycare facilities that transport small children.

Great idea! Just needs some improvements
I love this idea so much! I am excited about the potential. I don’t feel like it is working very well yet. Like sometimes it tells me it detected my car ride was over well after it was actually over (I have it set for 3 minutes of no movement). So, I think there are just some glitches they’ll need to fix and I would guess as they update more it will become better. Here are some other suggestions...I guess you don’t have to respond when it asks you if there are kids in the car once you are going 20 mph based off other reviews but it makes you feel like you have to. Is there is a way to explain you don’t have to respond when it asks? Also, I kind of wish the very first message I get asking if I got my kids turned on my sound so I hear it. My phone is always on silent so sometimes I don’t see the messages at first. Maybe it could be a setting you could decide if you wanted it to do that? Anyway, great idea! I am excited to use it as improvements are made!

Middle of the night beeping
I love the concept and when it works, it is such a great idea. Yesterday, we went on a long drive and I got no notifications at all during the drive, including our stop for lunch. Usually, I remember and turn it off if I won’t need it. We got to our destination at 2:30pm. At 2:30am, I woke up to loud beeping and it was in the process of calling the police! I was able to end the call before it connected and none of my emergency contacts have told me they got alerts first. I have no idea what happened where it didn’t alert for 12 hours, but I couldn’t fall asleep after. I deleted the app.
So I decided to download this app and see how it was. I’ve had it for a couple weeks now, and today I forgot to disable it when we got home from the pool. My 12 year old brought my phone to me and it was playing a very loud alarm sound over and over and the flashlight was flashing repeatedly. My three contacts also received emails/texts, explaining the situation, giving my vehicle details and included a link to the gps where my car was last stopped at, including how long it’s been there. I think that is awesome. I’m glad I finally got to see how it was when it went into that “mode”. I tell myself I could never forget my kids in the car, and yes, it’s sad that we have to think of apps and stuff to prevent it, but this is the reality now and I’m so thankful this app is out there.
