Apollo – still worth celebrating, and this is a great way to do it!
The Apollo Program is still worth celebrating as one of the finest examples of American ingenuity, even today, particularly considering the phone in your hand is more powerful than all the computing resources they had available at the time. Even for those who watched these events unfold as they happened, this app is loaded with information we didn't know: facts, stories, videos, and while the "augmented reality" is a bit gimmicky, it's fun to interact with it and consider its future potential!
The information is presented on easily-digestible chunks, so you can go through it as your time allows. The app is a bit finicky swiping through photo sets, but the content is worth putting up with that. There aren't a lot of apps lending themselves to kids and grown-ups sharing the experience, but this is one of them. Give it a shot!
Thanks to the Smithsonian Channel for this contribution to keeping dreams alive!
Wow. I showed this to my three year old and he absolutely lost his mind. He loved it and was instantly hooked on space related stuff. You guys have opened the mind of a future generation, and you should be really proud of this accomplishment in this app.
You and your kids might forget you’re learning something while you laugh so hard making space suit selfies and launching a rocket off the kitchen table. Must try!
