Jiffy lets you quickly search and discover GIFs from GIPHY, right from your menu bar. When you have found an awesome GIF, just drag and drop it into an app.

You can set a global keyboard shortcut to quickly show/hide the app.

You can also favorite GIFs and browse your favorites. However, your favorites are not synchronized with as GIPHY doesn't provide a way for third-party apps to get/set favorites.

Jiffy includes a system service that lets you highlight a word in any app, right-click, and select “Search GIFs with Jiffy” to directly search for GIFs matching that word.

Known issues:
- When you drag and drop a GIF, the thumbnail is upside down. This is a macOS bug. The actual GIF is fine.

Disclaimer: Jiffy is not affiliated with GIPHY. It just uses their API.

Cool app!

Works well. My only feature request: It would be better if this was a regular app, as opposed to menubar app.

My workflow is as such: Few times a day I need a GIF. I can easily open Spotlight, type "Jiffy" and look up my GIF. I copy the GIF, and quit the app.

But it's only a few times a day, so it doesn't justify staying in the menubar. Doing Spotlight search is even faster than menubar, because I can do it with my keyboard in just a few keystrokes.

This still deserves 5 stars. Good job!

Developer Response ,

There's an update out now with a "quick mode" preference that will open the popover at launch and quit the app after the popover closes and you're dong dragging/copying the GIF.

Best one

Tried all the similar apps, this one has the most polished UI and overall experience. It also has a nice setting to limit gifs to a specific rating (G, PG13, R, any) which makes it more suitable for a work machine. And it's free.

Exactly what I was looking for

Really happy I came across Jiffy and living for the app icon. Looking forward to seeing this app grow with new features and getting more exposure.
