Brown Noise is a simple status-bar app that plays smooth ambient brown noise. It helps focus on your work and not get distracted by random sounds.

5 modes of ambient noise available:
- High-pitched.
- Normal.
- Smooth.
- Cosmic.
- Airplane.

There is a global shortcut for playing and pausing! You can press command-option-P from anywhere on your Mac to play or pause background noise.

Wow

Thank you - this is what i need to study. FWIW when you click open there will be a sound wave icon on the top bar. Click it and select volumn and type of brown noise. I didn't see it at first when I downloaded the app and was frustrated that it woudn't open for me. ;)

Seems okay. AirPlay 2 mirroring over Homepods is broken.

Seems okay. AirPlay 2 mirroring over Homepods is broken. Lots of static-like sounds, and then it just cut altogether, though the menu in the menu bar still shows "pause" as if it is playing. Will try it again after it and/or macOS updates in hopes of a resolution. As it is, I just threw away $2. I could just use it with my Mac speakers, but that's not what I got it for.

Great for those with tinnitus

Thank you for making this app! I suffer from tinnitus and need ambient noise when it's quiet to distract me from the ringing in my ears. The universal shortcut in this app is is excellent and I really appreciate the four different noise samples included. I am super thankful for this Brown Noise app!
