Editors’ Choice

Automatoys’ puzzle towers might be digital, but their physics and sounds make them feel toylike and tactile, as if you could reach out and grab them. Each colorful, almost pinball-like challenge involves using simple controls to guide a ball through a maze of flippers, chutes, and pistons. Part of the fun is simply marveling at the designs’ ingenuity, and even after discovering the solutions, we still loved revisiting each machine to soak in the magical motions.

One of my favorite apps ever!

I love this app! It acts like an arsenal of tiny pinball machines, kept safely in my phone. The toys move slowly from easy to harder and all of the noises are very nice. It is so simple! This game shows that not all thing need to be flashy or super complicated to be fun. Most of the negative reviews seem to be either that some of the toys are too hard (some do take awhile) or that the reviewer did not notice the “in-app purchases” clause and assumed that it must be totally free. This game has no ads. For those who can’t afford the game there are three free toys. The rest costs $1.99. For such a high quality game this is a deal. It takes time and money to create a high quality game, and game developers need money in order to make more games (as well as needing money to buy food and stuff). This creator did not force ads on their players, gave away some of their content for free, and then asks for $1.99 for all the work they put in. This is a deal, especially where other game developers may turn this into a big money making scheme. This game is fun and a work of art. Great job, game creator! I can’t wait to see what you do next :)

Finding myself go from calming to frustrated as I play.

First of all the game design is perfect! It’s really cool to see all the different types of automatoys (sorry I don’t know if I’m spelling it right) it’s very creative and fun to see how all the contraptions work and experiment what failed and what you could do better on next time. Also the bright colors make the setting feel light and happy! The little smiling face on the ball makes it 10x cuter as well. The sfx is also very good it’s satisfying to hear the clunks etc as the ball continues throughout the puzzles. My only problem is that I find myself at a point where I won’t move on to the next level until I’ve gotten 3 stars on my last one which causes a lot of frustration and this game is supposed to be calming. But I guess it’s my problem that I just have the pet peeve of not feeling satisfaction until I’ve done it perfectly but I just feel like it gets frustrating to know that you didn’t get to the expectations the game expected which makes you feel bad and you want to keep repeating it until you’ve finally exceeded the expectations. This makes you end up sitting there for hours playing that one level and then you finally realize how much time you’ve wasted just to continuously fail. Other than that the game is very calming, cute and great for passing time and getting your brain to exercise.
