Bumble For Friends: Meet IRL Ratings and Reviews

Okay so I signed up for this app like a year ago ever since I came home from school, separated from my friends, & started working, I’m 22 years old with autism and I’m really good with ppl and starting to get better at communication. I met some ppl on this app and some I even met up with them in person which were great. The meetups were absolutely fun and hope to see them again :)

But honestly, I’ve been scammed by a few girls here. They eventually swiped me on bumble and I swipe back. They seem interesting so I was like why not and they plan to want to meet up with me. And vibe with me so we exchange instagrams. I then messaged them on Instagram because we aren’t on bumble that much and that’s fine

Next thing you know. I find out that many of them blocked me on Instagram for absolutely no reason when I simply ask hang out they have any plans like friends do? Most of them were disappearing one by one sadly as I became more devastated after losing my best friend 💔💔 honestly I never felt this alone before. You say you want to hang out and stuff but you block me out of nowhere ? What did I do?? I didn’t do anything to them. That really broke me.

But honestly this app is good for meeting ppl if you’re new to a city. It’s their loss because I am a nice and kind sweet person and the best friend would ever have. Too bad that these ppl failed to see that but I no longer want to try and fix it.

I've been using Bumble for months with no issues! Then all of the sudden I am logged out and my account is blocked out of nowhere, no warning, no anything! I read the community guidelines throughly and know I didn't do anything to break any of the rules. I contacted bumble support and I absolutely got no help. I felt like I was talking to a robot. Not only did I receive the same exact responses twice, but I was provided no real explanation over what happened, and absolutely no solution, then was told that I would no longer be getting a reply after 2 messages. If it was real people helping then they would see that there's nothing wrong with my profile. It is a shame because I enjoyed using Bumble until this unfair issue/ treatment arose!
Update: Contacted Bumble support again via Twitter or X and still get the same responses I got via email. There was no real solution provided or no real reasoning as to why I got blocked. No appeal process, no way to access/ see your account to confirm that you didn't go against community guidelines. And after 2 messages they say that they won't be responding anymore. My original statement still stands, and I'm really disappointed.

Mentally I have been cataloging various failures on the part of Bumble. Ages ago it was a worthwhile dating app. However, as of the past few years… it definitely has gone downhill.

The Bantr effort was good on paper, but in practice the men I would chat with either denigrated me to an object since there weren’t any images, and were already making very sexual remarks from the get-go, OR they were patronizing from the start OR talking with them was like trying to herd cats. Beyond that, Bumble on its own hosts some of the most egotistical men I have ever matched with on a dating app which seems sensationally out-of-character considering the reason for its creation. Lastly, their efforts at competing with other dating apps seem woefully pathetic and lacking in imagination. My “Opening Line” does not automatically send, nor does it allow me to copy and paste to send or something of a similar vein. You would think this “invention” would not require one to retype the entire question each time, but it does.

I think that paying for Bumble is not worth it, and now I am simply fed up with the app altogether. So downloading it does not seem worthwhile at this point either.

It was great while I could use the app. Until my account was blocked out of nowhere. I waited it out to see if it would unblock itself. It did not. So about a month after realizing I was blocked I finally tried to get in touch with support. It took them a few emails to even figure out which account was mine. And once they did all they said was that it was PERMANENTLY blocked and how I was violating community guidelines. So in return I asked how I violated any guideline bc I read back through them multiple times and I know for a fact I didn’t. I was barely on the account so I didn’t talk much to anyone, my pictures were appropriate. My name was correct and same with my age. They refused to give me a reason why other than I violated the guidelines and then basically said it was the end of the conversation. I would not recommend for the pure fact that anyone could go through this. Being excited to make friends at 25 when it’s hard to make them in everyday life and being shut down completely to the idea of it. Without giving anyone an opportunity to appeal any reports made upon you is insanity. Bumble bff could do better, or bumble support in general.

So close to being fabulous. Have a lot to say but when it comes down to the quick and dirty : Bumble for Pete’s sake why charge such a high prices? Basic feature like “undo” when accidentally swiping left Vs right, there is not a single option to undo (even when trying it out the first day) without being behind a $20 for ONE WEEK to $80 for 6m pay wall. Come on bumble? People are lonely during a recession with inflation and this is the options you give? More greed. No under $10 trial period is so lame. Like you were so close… I would be so happy to pay a reasonable price for an app like this, but to be so stingy to not even allow us to TEST the features before paying SUCH prices? Come on now. 8.6 billion dollar company needs $20/wk before you can even test a basic feature. Give me a break. (Oh and to boot, went to the contact us page on their website to avoid leaving this review, to give them a polite and decent chance to hear from the people - and “this page is not available” was the contact us page. Nice.)

I was hesitant to get the app as I am married and was worried it wasn’t actually a friend app but more like a dating app but no! You get people who are also just looking for friends. It’s the same as a dating app, you get to fill out everything about you, post pictures and set distance and age preferences. So far I’ve noticed that texting first is the best way to actually get people to talk but if you’re too scared send a gif! Me and my husband both got the app and I mostly get women on mine and he gets mostly men, now idk if you can’t change the preferences to mix or get the opposite gender but it doesn’t bother us at all. I’ve had this app for maybe 3-4 days and got a couple phone numbers and one planned meet up so far but you really gotta put in effort like with any other friendship that’s in real life.

I switched over from the main app to this app. I love the new Plans feature. But absolutely hate all of the bugs this app has. My account keeps getting flagged for no reason. And each time I reach out to BFF Support, they just send me an email saying it was a mistake. But they restricted my account due to THEIR MISTAKE and then never undo their restrictions. Even though i have the emails from them admitting their mistake. The restrictions just make it where I can’t link my instagram account which is minor but still annoying since it was their mistake to begin with. I keep seeking out help from support but they aren’t understanding the issue I keep telling them i think. The app is a great idea for people who are only interested in making friends. The only downside is there’s a lot of bugs and technical issues with the app that have yet to be resolved so just beware of that and report any you find so that their team can hopefully work on them.

I got this app because I'm doing school online and don't have any friends beside my boyfriend. I made a solid friend on here within a day of having the app so I don't even need it anymore.
What I like about it:
• Has verification which is good for safety reasons
• There's a variety of fun prompts you can put & answer on your profile
• It finds potential matches near your location so you can hangout irl.
• You can filter your options by location proximity & age
•Even if you don't match with someone you can send them a message called a compliment (they are limited though)
What I don't like about it:
•There's not a whole lot of options for these tag things you can put on your profile to see what you have in common with people. For ex:One tag might be basketball to show you like basketball. And you can only pick 5. I think there should be more options and the max should be raised to 8-10.
•You have a limited amount of likes
•If you accidentally swipe left you can only back track if you pay money
•They only let conversations with matches be open for 72 hours. (you can pay money to lengthen the time but only by another day).
Improvements that can be made:
1.Not charging for accidental left swipes
2.If someone pays for a lengthened conversation, it should not have an expiration date
3.Everyone should receive new compliments daily but people who pay can have extra or unlimited.

I’ve tried this app in the past and had some luck making friends! Issue is that none of them live in my area anymore, so trying to restart! Maybe this app is geared towards ladies in their 20’s. I’m only early 30’s and there is barely anyone my age on this app looking for friends. I ran out of matches my first day on the app. I had 3 matches so far, 1 unmatched before even saying anything and the 2 other matches have been silent. I think there needs to be better execution on this app. Like if someone matches with you, a message should automatically be sent from their account otherwise everyone just stays silent. I do like the plans feature, but they should be forced to give a date and time to make a “plan” because in my area they all look like dead groups with no meetups scheduled. I’ll try to give the app a little more time, but overall really disappointed. Hard to make friends if there are no options to.

Updating my review. So I made the transition from the main app to this app. Not sure why one would want people to leave and migrate to another app. The two other features on the old app are an odd couple, dating and job search. Bizarre combo. One would think the bizz section would migrate out and be a serious option. Anyway this app, yawn. It tells me there are people who swiped right with blurred photos. You have to pay to see them. I’ve been on the old app long enough to know it’s not worth a dime. Often they show up in your feed to select left right but not these two. I’ve swiped everyone so far, all ages, all distances. There’s no more to see. They release a couple a day to get you to log in. The app is a good concept but not well executed. People need to provide more info. A face, an age, a name/title and a few tags is not enough info to start a friendship. There needs to be more words. Interests, likes, hobbies, values…
