Great engine; Rough app

Pros: Scans come out very well. Let you do in app scanning and importing prerecorded content. Cons: Model cropping needs to be improved. Compared to scaniverse this is a very tough and arduous experience. Model generation even with payed tier takes a while. I’ve noticed it may be faster if you submit another scan. It’s possible they use some auto terminating compute service and it can take time to acquire compute. Model editing environment needs a facelift.

Update: they updated the app, lost my subscription, lost all my data, and made me create an account. No longer recommending this app.I am relatively new to 3D scanning, and I needed a scan of a smooth, curved, chrome-plated tapewriter (DYMO 1570). I set it on my dining room table, and did a relatively quick scan with the featureless mode in KIRI. About 15 minutes later, I had a more than serviceable model of the features I needed. I didn’t even need to matte the shine or adjust any lighting. It’s not a perfect forensic scan, but given the slapdash setup, quick scanning, dim light, difficult subject, and lack of experience, I’m more than happy with my decision to get a pro subscription.I do wish the app provided more detail about the export options and let me choose multiple formats and options for a single export, or let me queue multiple exports without waiting for the previous one to finish. Maybe a future version can offer these?

I just got it about an hour ago and it’s super easy to use and makes surprisingly good models even with the free 70 photos. Probably going to end up upgrading at a later point so I can make larger models that require 200 photos, and be able to export more models
