Fun way to read and learn Mandarin

I can’t believe I haven’t discovered this app sooner. It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for: a fun, visual way to read and learn Mandarin. Every aspect of the app is well thought out, with a built in dictionary, voice acting for every line of dialogue (and even sound effects sprinkled throughout), videos explaining grammar points, the ability to dub your own voice reads, and a forum where you can meet other users. I don’t know how often they update the library, but it is already pretty large, and the quality of the comics I’ve read so far is great.

Great idea, could use some polish

Agreed with everyone else who says this is a great and well-designed method for practicing Chinese. It has definitely earned a place in my rotation.But I should also point out that there are some rough edges that I’d want to see fixed before I can give it five stars. First and foremost is the audio. I have too complaints here. The first is that audio takes a long time (maybe 2-3 seconds) to play when I tap on a speech bubble. I’m guessing it’s because it waits until I talon a bubble before requesting the audio, instead of pre-fetching the content when I open the lesson.The second is that the recordings can be spoken a bit too quickly for me (a beginner) to really understand well. I’m not fond of slow over-enunciated speech in learning materials, but, at least for the beginner-level content, something more on the slow end of a natural pace would help with being able to properly hear how things are supposed to be pronounced.

I have to say I am impressed with the features on this app. You can watch learning videos, read comics and learn how to write chinese characters! I really enjoy the comics because you can listen and repeat the words and it makes it easy and fun to read. You can read at any HSK level you wish which is great :) I’m very happy with this APP

So integrative and so many ways to connect with other learners. The anime style is cute and fun to learn with real life scenarios made by real speakers so you don’t feel like you are learning phrases nobody actually says. It’s pretty easy to earn beans if you engage. I’m looking forward to learning more. This app is my favourite for learning chinese!
