We followed up the popular Manual for the United States of America app with a Second Edition, redesigned for the next generation of the iPad. Along with the documents and presidential/state facts found in the original version, we have added more visual and timely information presented with higher resolution images. New features include contact information for government officials, an interactive historical map, and an Election Center. We encourage you to explore different areas of the app to find special sections about the flag, the founding fathers, and important government buildings.
BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT:
Find facts and bios of Presidents, contact information for Senators and Representatives, bios of current Supreme Court Justices, information about current cabinet positions, and landmark Supreme Court cases.
ELECTION CENTER:
Track election results for Presidential, Congressional, and Gubernatorial races. Search elections by name, state, and district and view up to date information at a glance using our charts and maps.
DOCUMENTS:
Read the following documents with notes: Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Articles of Confederation, Federalist Papers, Anti-Federalist Papers, Washington's Farewell Address, Emancipation Proclamation, Gettysburg Address, Lincoln's 2nd Inaugural Address, Civil Rights Act, and more.
Special sections about the Constitution and Declaration of Independence include images of the original documents, paintings depicting their signing, and biographies of the original signers.
STATE INFO:
Use our interactive map to see how state and national boundaries have changed over time from the end of the Revolutionary War to the present. Get facts about states, territories, and the design of their flags.
INFLUENTIAL WRITING:
Explore ideologies that influenced the nation's founding with writing from Thomas Paine, Adam Smith, David Hume, and John Locke, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams. A special section highlights Patrick Henry and his passionate plea for independence from Great Britain.
USA Manual Express is available (separately) for iPhone and iPod Touch on the App Store.
I’ve used USA Manual frequently, although mostly to refer to national documents and COPY portions of them. The latest update has REMOVED the ability to SELECT AND COPY TEXT. This makes the Manual USELESS as a tool for carrying on discussions of politics. The 1 star rating is because of this. The redesign of menus is unexciting but practical. The inability to work with the texts is a killer.

Quit propagating fake news by using CNN and I might score 4 stars.

I think the presentation and layout is great. The only problem is what I commonly see in other applications in both portrait and landscape mode. The problem is being unable to scroll normally to the bottom of viewable text without the text screen bouncing back up a number of lines taking the desired text out of view. The only work around is to drag the text field up long enough to view the remaining text long enough to read it, hopefully without having it slip down out of sight. As stated this happens in both modes.
