Description

Mazaam is a new educational game that immerses children ages 4 to 6 in a world populated by funny animals. The challenge? Reunite sea lion families, feed eagles or help boisterous squirrels get to bed… While listening to music!

While playing, your child visits five playful worlds and discovers masterpieces of classical music. Your child improves musical, cognitive and social skills while exploring the fundamentals of music: tempo, timbre, pitch, intensity and harmony of sounds.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND MAZAAM

Studies show that music can favour improvement of young children’s thought structure and stimulate their creativity.

Mazaam also relies on the most recent research in positive psychology, neuroscience and education to teach children to decode the musical structure. Its educational program is based on the guidelines of the Canada Research Chair in Music and Learning.

Mazaam offers an intuitive and progressive framework. Visual clues provide guidance at the beginning of each module, then gradually disappear to solicit your child’s auditory attention more and more. Very quickly, your child becomes capable of distinguishing, associating and identifying musical elements.

WHILE HAVING FUN, YOUR CHILD LEARNS TO…

– use effective strategies
– set priorities
– evaluate the best option to deal with a problem
– adapt to novelty and change

In short, in the Mazaam educational app, your child develops both cognitive abilities and musical knowledge, while having fun!

AN APP FOR CHILDREN… AND THEIR PARENTS!

In Mazaam, the parent-child relationship plays a prominent role…

– Follow your child’s progress in the Parent Zone
– Play with your child and share his or her experience in Duo mode, which puts you in the picture in augmented reality
– Discover other at-home educational activities to introduce your child to music

FIVE WORLDS TO DISCOVER

1 – Squirrel music box (low-pitched and high-pitched sounds)
Music involves low-pitched and high-pitched sounds that create melodies. Your child is introduced to the pitch of sounds, accompanied by squirrels bursting with energy!

2 – Chameleon music box (tempo)
The tempo sets the rhythm of a musical movement. Your child must differentiate between slow and fast musical excerpts. By playing with chameleons, your child learns to distinguish tempo.

3 – Lynx music box (soft or loud sounds)
Your child has fun discovering the different degrees of intensity of sounds: soft or loud. As the lynxes know well, the contrast between these different intensities forms musical nuances.

4 – Eagle music box (timbre)
Timbre is the “colour” of sound, the way each sound is produced. For example, it lets you distinguish a flute from a violin. Hungry eagles help your child become familiar with wind instruments and string instruments.

5 – Sea lion music box (harmony)
Musical harmony contains different elements, including consonance and dissonance. Your child learns to distinguish between more harmonious or more discordant excerpts with the help of likeable sea lions.

MAZAAM ALSO INCLUDES:

– Over 140 works of classical music

Almost Perfect

I like the repetition. I find the concepts to be perfect for what I want to work with my students. My special ed students enjoy feeding the animals and don’t find it boring. Some of them won’t get the concepts, but they keep working at it because it’s fun.
The almost- I can’t put it on all their iPads because of costs.
