Miniature Tactics
I am really enjoying this game and it is well worth a try. The reason for the 3 stars is the lack of transparency and/or bugs within the game. My very first game I made it to the final board where 2 of my figures somehow occupied the same spot on the board and the game eventually locked up. Now that I’ve been playing awhile, I see discrepancies often. The computer often deals more damage than their indicated attack. Is this a bug or do they do double damage in certain situations? My attack bonus’s go away or are reduced. How about some sort of explanation in the game for these anomalies or maybe it’s some bugs need fixing.
Edit: After playing some more, I felt the need to add a star. The gameplay just hits a sweet spot for mobile. It is quick and addictive with a fantastic aesthetic. After buying one of the better players to start, I was able to finish a run. The computer occasionally still does more attack then indicated by their attack number which is frustrating and I still feel is a bug (I’ve seen the computer do 5 damage several times when his attack is 3. Once when no one else was on the board). I’ve also learned that my attack bonus only lasts one hit and that area damage is reduced 1 per square. Again this could have be explained somewhere Still very much enjoying the game and keep coming back for a quick run.
There's such a thing as too minimalist.
Needs better explanations of attack ranges and abilities. In one case range 2 seems to me move 2 and in another, you attack two units in a line. If you don't explain on card, have a reference page somewhere. You also can't tap and hold to see ability of a character that already acted that turn which makes it difficult to plan. After a few games I still don't know why I lost on 2nd turn when a zombie I spawned the turn before got killed. What is win condition and where is that explained? No explanation at all as to what appears to be a unit purchase screen. Buttons aren't labeled so you don't know what they do. I get minimalism, and I love it, but this game sacrifices serious function for little gain in form. Get over this fetish for lack of text and make the dashboard thing more user friendly and intelligible.
Nice game
Great game. I like that it is not a pay-to-win CCG like most of the other card/board hybrid games nowadays. In-depth strategy while still a quick, fun play. Biggest flaw is the AI is not very strong. I have seen on multiple games the AI miss game-winning moves. Sometimes it does not seem to recognize that it can kill your "king" and so it just does another attack move instead. I feel like this should be able to be fixed. Minor flaws include a lack of instructions as others have mentioned. While the game can be figured out fairly quickly, why not include a tutorial or instructions? Also, I'm still fuzzy on why sometimes my attacks do less damage than I think they should. Others have mentioned RNG but I’ve played several dozen games at this point and while, yes, sometimes, you get a bad hand I don’t find I lose games to bad luck that often. (It does happen.) Normally I can retreat and play defensively until the card draws turn to my favor.
