Description

The simplest mouse and touchpad configuration app

Noo is the simplest mouse and touchpad configuration app you can find. It enables you to map a mouse button and a trackpad gesture to a set of keys.

Here are some examples of how Noo might be useful:
- Map a mouse button to Ctrl+Up in order to activate Mission Control.
- Map a mouse button for copying (Cmd+C) and pasting (Cmd+V)
- Map a 3-finger touch for Cmd+F3 in order to activate Tip (https://github.com/tanin47/tip)

Initially, I built Noo to be used with Tip (https://github.com/tanin47/tip). Since then, Noo has acquired many wonderful users, and I've been using it for several years. You can be sure that Noo is battle-tested and works well. I hope you find this utility app helpful!

What’s New

Version 3.1

- Fix the bug where Ctrl + Up didn't work with Mission Control. This is because it used `postToPid` instead of `post`. Read more: https://github.com/tanin47/noo/issues/2

saving my trackman marble from obsolescence

I've been using a Trackman Marble for over 20 years. The ambidextrous trackball has saved me from repetitive stress injuries - because I can literally shift it across my desk and use the other hand! But Logitech is no longer willing to support it on Macs. Noo allows me to map the mini buttons to page-up/page-down - which isn't quite the same scrolling function Logitech's driver used to allow, but it works in most apps (not the App Store, for instance, which seems odd). But there isn't a currently supported ambidextrous trackball that's half as comfortable under my hands. So thank you for allowing me to continue using this old one. If the page-up/down worked in more apps, and in sidebars, I'd give 5 stars.

Somewhat confusing but it works

After granting persmissions the appseemingly does not open. This is not the case. After starting the app there is a mouse icon in the system toolbar (upper-right) that allows access to the configuration screen. I did not see it straight away and only stumbled on it by accident. I hope this helps others.

Unmaintained

Simple to set up, but it's not working. Specifically, when I set up Ctrl up arrow as a shortcut for accessing mission control, it doesn't press Ctrl, only the up arrow. On their github page, there are several other reports of this issue that are years old, with no response. I appreciate the developer for creating this software, but they should take it down from the app store until they have the bandwidth to fix bugs in the most core functionality.

I'm switching to Karabiner elements. Less straightforward UI, but actively maintained, and does more.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your feedback. I was busy with the full time job, but now I've left my previous job and have more time to improve this app.

I've looked at your reported issue on github, identified the root cause, and fixed it in v3.1. See more: https://github.com/tanin47/noo/issues/2

Please try it out.
