NYDocSubmit enables residents of New York State to submit required documents for SNAP, HEAP, Temporary Assistance, and Medicaid – avoiding another trip to the local social services district (“district”) office. This App is available to residents of Albany, Allegany, Broome, Cattaraugus, Cayuga, Chautauqua, Chemung, Chenango, Clinton, Columbia, Cortland, Delaware, Dutchess, Erie, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Genesee, Greene, Hamilton, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Livingston, Madison, Monroe, Montgomery, Niagara, Oneida, Onondaga, Ontario, Orleans, Oswego, Otsego, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Saratoga, Schoharie, Schuyler, Seneca, St. Lawrence, Steuben, Suffolk, Sullivan, Tioga, Tompkins, Ulster, Warren, Washington, Wayne, Westchester, Wyoming, and Yates Counties at this time. If your district is not listed, check back soon to see if it has been added. This App is NOT monitored for emergencies. You must contact your district office directly if you need help to address an emergency. DO NOT use this App to submit an initial application for SNAP, HEAP, Temporary Assistance, or Medicaid; to submit a SNAP Interim Report, SNAP Change Report Form, or SNAP Periodic Report; or to submit a recertification application for SNAP, HEAP, or Temporary Assistance. However, you may use NYDocSubmit to submit a Medicaid recertification. DO NOT submit sensitive information, such as HIV status or domestic violence information and/or addresses that must remain confidential to safeguard you or a household member. If you need to submit such information, or if the App is not available, provide the documents to your district in a manner OTHER THAN through this App, such as through the U.S. Postal Service, in person, kiosk (if available), or fax machine.

Very easy to use

This app is a very convenient way to upload documents to the department of social services. Much easier than having to go to the department and submit them, which for people without transportation is a very big issue. My only suggestion would be to allow the submission of screenshots. Sometimes the information that you need to submit is in an app on your phone, and the taking of live shots requires either printing out the item and taking a photo or downloading the app onto a second device to take a photo of the original device. Not everyone has access to a printer or a second device.

This app is a very convenient way to upload documents to the department of social services. The app is very easy to use and convenient however, there are glitches that happens. For example, when searching for you Social Service District, only for counties were showing. I call the IT people and he could not understand what I was saying the problem was. I figured out that that if you delete and reinstall the app, go through the process of getting started again that the remaining 30+ counties appeared. I was then able to go the process of uploading the documents I needed to. Hope this helps. 💕

App is good save you a trip to the agency or having to mail all these docs in paper through mail. but I had to submit some docs that I already had on my pictures file or I downloaded from a web server and I couldn’t submit them . App doesn’t allow to browse on your phone file or picture files , you have to take live pictures of every doc you are submitting - nowadays a lot of things are paperless you go to the website and download a doc if you don’t have printer at home you need to go to library and print all paper doc then scan them to the app. Maybe update for the future will save a lot time and effort .

This process seems easy enough, however if I have a quick question, there’s no option for a ‘chat message’. This option would save multiple time and resources in lieu of a phone call. The phone call issue to speak with a person is brutal (for all involved). I understand the office is very busy, but often it’s just a ‘quick’ question. I always appreciate the assistance from the office but often feel my simple question or a confirmation of something was a waste of their valuable time.

The NYDocSubmit App now allows you to upload documents from your mobile device or photos saved in the photo gallery. The app accepts documents with .jpg, .jpeg, .png, or .pdf file extensions. Additional enhancements were made to improve user experience, including improving image clarity when taking a picture of a document. In addition, performance improvements and bug fixes were applied.
