OGS Notifications 4+

Extremely helpful Notifications adjunct to OGS

This app is outstanding for anyone who plays Go Baduk in MacOS at Online Go Server (OGS). Although OGS has notifications, they are within the online web page (i.e when the OGS website is open) or by email. This OGS Notifications app adds OGS move notifications by banners and top menu bar badges, which allow notifications even when one is outside the app (eg doing other work on their Mac). There’s even a fun audible notification that reads aloud the name of your opponent and tells you that they have moved. The benefit is when you do other things on your Mac and want to know if your opponent has moved, without constantly looking back at OGS in the browser or having multiple windows open. It works for live and correspondence games. Once downloaded, it worked immediately when I signed in with my OGS account. It fetches moves at times you apply in settings; for correspondence games, for instance, one might wish to know if any game has had a move every half hour, so the settings can be set as such. The top menu bar icon can be clicked and a drop down shows all of your active games and which need you to move, and clicking on a specific game within the app’s drop down takes you to a browser page with that game on OGS. There’s a refresh button within the drop down if you want to see which games have a move/require your move instantly, even if between scheduled data fetches. I had a question for the developer, and he responded kindly within a few hours via email and helped me, so this is a “live app” with active dev involvement. Any fan of online Go should consider this low-cost, extremely helpful app to enhance their enjoyment of OGS.
