After a (very) long time, the update for Picoli finally arrived. And it’s a fantastic update, almost a new app! We get a fresh iOS7-design with changing backgrounds depending on the photo you are editing, which looks really cool and it has all the tools you expect + a few more. It’s fast and I also don’t see any crashes on my iPhone 5. It’s my standard app for photo editing now, well done!

I have not used previous versions of this app but tried it out yesterday after a friend recommended it. It really is AWESOME! Super easy to use and you can make all the changes you would normally do in Photoshop. The filters are a lot of fun and even the kids play around with this. I can now rework my pics while waiting at the dentist or on long flights. Loving it!

Does what it claims, and does it well.

Decided to take a chance on this one, just to give myself the option to "massage" photos from my iPhone on the device. It operates smoothly, and the filters operate as you'd expect, based on the names. There isn't a live preview - you drag the slider, it calculates the effect, then you modify, accept, or cancel from there. This wasn't a surprise, even when I expected that the photos that Picoli saves out would be reduced in resolution from the original. Surprisingly, though, it saves them at full resolution - a definite point in Picoli's favor.

The only downside that I would mention, after limited use, is that the app appears to apply the filters to a reduced-resolution version of the photo, then save the file with the same effect strength. This doesn't matter for the vast majority of the filters, but I did notice that the Sharpen filter doesn't seem to have as much effect on the saved file as it had on the iPhone screen.

Overall, an impressive first effort, and I have no regrets about spending the $5.
