Popcorn is a simple Safari extension that will show you IMDb and Metascore ratings on Netflix.
It is simple and straightforward to use, have no ads and doesn't track you or collect your personal data.

And best of all? It's completely free.

Just open movie or TV show details and enjoy!

Safari 14 and active Netflix subscription are required to use this extension. Additionally, Netflix profile language should be set to English for a better compatibility.

This browser extension is not endorsed nor affiliated with Netflix, IMDb or Metacritic in any way.

What’s New

Version 1.1

App is now more clear in communicating that Safari 14 is required to install the extension. Additionally, the extension will show compatibility warning if you're using Netflix in a language other than English. If you have any other issues with running this extension, please check the app's support page for installation walkthrough and usage examples.
This update also brings some minor styling changes and bug fixes.

Please note that movie ratings are currently visible only on the movie details page. To open it, select 'More info' on a movie card.

It'd be so easy to make this better.

I would rate this five stars if it showed the imdb rating upon hover (alongside the percent match) and if the toolbar item weren't so ugly. In order to see the imdb rating, you have to open the "more info" pane, which makes it much harder when browsing. Also, the toolbar item does essentially nothing. The extension should just demand permissions on and not have any toolbar item.

Developer Response ,

Hello Patrick,

that's correct, movie ratings are currently only available when you open the movie details.
Movie ratings on hovering cards were planned from the very beginning but due to some technical limitations didn't make it to this version.
It's definitely not easy but I can tell you it is planned for some of the future versions.

Unfortunately, permissions dialog is not something developer gets to choose where it will show up. It is provided by the system and shown at its discretion.
I know the installation process is not as straightforward as it could be but let's hope things will get easier - extensions of this type were introduced to Safari only recently.
