FAMOUS PROVERBIDIOMS PAINTING
Proverbidioms is an oil painting by American artist T. E. Breitenbach depicting over 300 common proverbs, catchphrases, and clichés such as "You are what you eat", "a frog in the throat", and "kicked the bucket". It is painted on a 45 by 67 inch wooden panel and was completed in 1975 after two years work, when the artist was 24. The included sayings are painted quite literally and appear comical and bizarre, especially if one does not at first realize what the painting is about. For example, "You are what you eat" is represented in the painting by a carrot eating a carrot.

Developer support not bad.

I purchased this app sometime ago after it was recommended to me as useful tool for teachers. My students enjoy the app and it’s a fun easy way to learn idioms and their origins. After some initial problems with the updated version I was contacted by the developer who helped to sort things out. Any app that updates often is only as good as its customer support and response to user feedback. Whether your casually brushing up on your idioms, learning new ones or teaching students, this app is a fun way of doing it. This app gets an ‘A’ from me.

Great fun!

This is be of the best app games I've played. Something to use my brain, be challenged, yet able to enjoy. I rarely pay for a game but the additional games were worth it. I hope they add more soon!

Not Relaxing, And Monetization Strategy is a Bummer

Supposedly, you can unlock the game by playing, but if you come up short, there’s no way to go back and pick up a few more stars. Instead, you are required to start a new game (forfeiting all of your earned coins) and try to get what you need by playing the entire level again. Tedious and stressful since coins are earned by finding things fast. A game like this is meant to be treated like a jigsaw puzzle; relaxing. This is... not relaxing.

I could, of course, buy coins to unlock those levels but since you are buying consumables to unlock levels instead of just paying to unlock it directly, nobody else on my family account can enjoy the game without also paying to unlock the content.

Too bad. It has charm and would be fun if I could just buy the darn thing outright for a reasonable price.

Update: Developer response to this review gives me hope! Looking forward to seeing some tweaks so I can throw some money at this game and play it the way (I think) it’s meant to be played.

Developer Response ,
