Locks up music app in Catalina! Be careful!

App has not been updated to support music app on Mac in Catalina. Will show library name (because of media sharing) but when you try to use it locks up the music app on your Mac and force quitting it and relaunching it does NOT work. Have to restart computer! Update it to support music app, or better yet, make the music app AirPlay 2 capable so as it becomes (the Mac music app) one of the targets that shows up in the airplay panel that shows up for phone, Apple TV’s, HomePods, etc on your iPhone when playing from your library.

Missing key feature

This is one of the most used apps I have on my IOS devices, using it to control a headless Mac mini music server. There are no iTunes alternatives available I’m aware off, as such it is important to me that it continues to remain relevant. For the most part it works flawlessly with a local music library, what it doesn’t do is quite astonishing, it doesn’t allow selecting music from Apple Music. If I choose an album or song in Apple Music using Remote Desktop from a Mac and then start iTunes Remote on iPad it appears in now playing and functions normally so it seems feasible. Please Apple update this app with Apple Music functionality, don’t make me email Tim Cook over such an obvious shortcoming.

Apple has broken the Remote App

The Remote App functioned admirably under High Sierra and Mojave, but has ceased to function under Catalina. For several years, I have used the Remote App to control ~500GB of ALAC files on my Mac Mini, from anywhere within range of my wireless router. The Mini streams wirelessly to a third-generation AppleTV, that is optically connected to an external DAC, that feeds a high-end two-channel audio system.

Now that I have "upgraded" to Catalina, I can no longer control my lossless music library remotely, and must to create playlists, play, pause, etc. by going to the room where the Mini resides. The idea of buying a new Mac to gain iPad-based control of my desktop, or paying for iCloud storage of ~500GB of lossless music that I own, seems idiotic.

If Apple does not address this problem in a meaningful way, and soon, I will be forced to take corrective action. Rather than buy a new Mac and or iCloud storage to solve the problem, I will purchase a dedicated network audio server, dump Apple completely, and be much happier in result. Tim Cook is ruining a once great company.
