SAM is a friendly app that offers a range of self-help methods for people who are serious about learning to manage their anxiety.
SAM has been developed by a university team of psychologists, computer scientists and student users. Established methods of self-help have been combined with high standards of usability to provide an engaging, flexible, and practical resource.
The key features of SAM are:

• 25 self-help options covering: Information about anxiety, Thinking and anxiety, Physical relaxation, Mental relaxation, Health and Anxiety
• Guidance on putting self-help into practice
• Closed social network of SAM users
The content of SAM is presented in various media formats in order to support users in learning about anxiety and practicing self-help. Although not text-heavy, users will need to study the guidance to get the best out of SAM. Users are encouraged to build their own Anxiety Toolkit of SAM resources that they find helpful and to draw on this for regular practice in managing situations that are associated with anxiety.
SAM may be used with or without the support of a registered health practitioner but you may wish to consult with your local health or well-being practitioner if you are uncertain about using SAM.

Great For The First Steps
While the app looks a little outdated, I think this would be a great resource for someone starting their journey battling anxiety. The app aims to observe when/how your anxiety affects you over time, learn how your thinking/lifestyle contributes to anxiety, and practice self-help methods. Being able to track how anxious you’re feeling, as well as how much you’re avoiding those fears and the physical sensations, daily is quite useful for overcoming some of the hardest parts of treatment: recognizing, analyzing, and facing those fears. I also really like all the different exercises the app offers, such as breathing techniques to calm down the physical responses, as well as ways to think about your anxious thoughts and relax the mind. I felt like they really help ease those overwhelming symptoms of severe anxiety, and I was also able to add them to my Tool Kit, which made them easily accessible for times when I needed them most. Overall, while the app isn’t perfect and doesn’t replace real treatment, I think it’s a great addition to someone’s treatment plan.
Useful but could use some changes
I have found this app to be useful both for myself and clients of mine. The social cloud has been one of my favorite features. While I do love this app and recommend it a lot. There are a few things that might make it better. Requiring a login as soon as your open the app would help increase security and confidentiality.
Really helps me
A little confused about the low ratings on this, as it helps me immensely, but I suppose everyone is different. The tools I use are under "self help for anxiety now". My favorite is picture peace, it can pull me out of an impending panic attack in 10 minutes or less. The calm breathing one works as well. I would LOVE if you could add some more photos to picture peace. My favorites are the really colorful ones that start black and white. I know you have the option to add your own but they aren't saved in the app and while im mid panic attack I'm not going to scroll through my camera roll to find the perfect photo, ya know?
